The funeral services for the late Mr. Lester Lee Martin, who departed this life on Thursday, January 23, 2025, will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Coverdale, Georgia. Evangelist Tedria Martin will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the New Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery. Lester Lee Martin, Sr. was born on July 31, 1960, in Miami, Florida to loving parents, James Laster and the late Geneva Baldwin. He grew up in Ashburn, GA and went to Turner Co High School in Ashburn, Georgia, graduating in 1978.
On Thursday, January 23, 2025, Lester Martin Sr transitioned from this life to an everlasting rest with the Lord. He loved to sing, tell jokes and spend time with his family and friends. Everyone who knew him intimately knew that he adored his children. On the day of his Auntie Gloria’s wake, he sang the song called “Your Grace and Mercy “and after he received his wings. He truly will be missed by all he knew and loved him. His mother, Geneva Baldwin, a sister, Mary Frances Office, eight aunts and uncles, Fannie Mae Felton, Eva Lou Clark, Arthur Roy Lawson, Gary Lee Lawson, John Fullmore, Gloria Lawson and Alton Lawson, have all preceded him in death
Lester Lee Martin, Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted family: his children, Tedria Martin of Valdosta, GA, Lester Martin, Jr. of Ashburn, GA, Josh Boney of San Diego, CA, Centavia Boney of Lynchburg, VA; his grandchildren, Jariem Martin (Lasia), Ja’Ven Watts, Jamiq Martin, Jamerion Watts; one great grandchild, Amelia Martin; sisters, Annette Merriweather, Vevilyn Noel, Brenda Walker, Tracey Gipson, all of Ashburn, GA, Minnie Curry of Atlanta, GA, Dawn Laster of Albany, GA; brothers, Johnny Laster of FL, Al Laster (Julia) of Atlanta, GA, Rickey Laster, Lamar Richardson, Daryll Laster, Raymond McCoy, Joseph McCoy, Joseph Samuel (Rosemary), Forrest Dickey (Lydia), all of Ashburn, Georgia; four aunts, Tommie King, Inez Thomas, Margaret Smith, Wanda Lawson, all of Ashburn, GA; two uncles, Nathaniel Lawson, Robert Martin, both of Ashburn, GA; two nieces, Karen Brown (Luke), Rhonnett Merriweather; five nephews, David Noel, Jr. (Janetta) of Albany, GA, Devine Noel of Atlanta, GA, Brannon Walker, Jamal Burgess, Shaquil Baldwin, all of Ashburn, GA; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. He had two special friends: his cousin, Donte King, which he calls “Dirt” and Cassandra Walker (Sonny Girl), whom he adoringly called “Jennifer”. He also was still fond of the mother of his children, Cynthia Boney.
