The Funeral Services for the late Mrs. Mary Francis Bailey of 116 Kourtney Street, Sylvester, Georgia, who departed this life on Friday, December 17, 2021 at her residence, will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia. Mrs. Mary Frances Odoms Bailey was born on May 6, 1928 to the late Pearl Odoms and Isiah “Buster” Odoms in Crisp County, Georgia. Crisp County is where she resided and attended school until 1964 before moving to Worth County, Georgia, making Sylvester her permanent home. She raised 6 children, a grandchild, and a great-grand.
Many years ago, Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and she earned the name, Mother Bailey, to whom she is known by many people. Over the years, Mother Bailey was very active in the church serving under the leadership of the late Apostle Revills of Albany, Georgia., the late Overseer Green of Sylvester, Georgia, and in her final years, Pastor Leon Martin of New Life Community Church in Sylvester, Georgia. When Mother Bailey was no longer able to worship in God’s house, she continued to worship in hers.
On December 17, 2021, Mother Bailey’s work here as we know it was completed. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by many people who love her dearly. Mother Bailey will be remembered for her kindness, unconditional love, and huge generosity.
Unfortunately, Mother Bailey was preceded in death by one son, Myron “Beave” Smith, but leaves behind to cherish her memories her other children, Frederick “Ricky” Smith, Venus “Pat” Marshall, James “Huck” (Gloria) Crawford Jr., Carlton Crawford, and Darryl (Tia) Bailey; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren; her spiritual brother and sister, Miller(Mary) Rogers; her spiritual daughter, Brawner Harris, along with a host of cousins and friends.
Mama, Grandma, Granny, Mrs. Mary, Mrs. Bailey, Mother Bailey, you will truly be missed.
