Obituary For Ola Me McKelvin

The Mrs. Ola M. McKelvin departed this life on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Pruitt Healthcare in Lilburn, Georgia.

A private service for the family will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia. Reverend E. Terrell Carter will be bringing Words of Comfort.

Ola Mae Roberts McKelvin was born April 27, 1928 in Sylvester, Georgia, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Otis and Susie Roberts.

At a young age, Ola Mae received her Savior at New Bethel Baptist Church in Sumner, Georgia. She was a devoted member and served in the choir until her health failed. Even though she was not able to attend her beloved New Bethel Baptist Church, the hymnals remained in Ola Mae’s mind and spirit because she loved gospel music.

Ola Mae married James McKelvin, Sr. in 1946. This union lasted until his death in 1999.

Education and Profession Ola Mae was educated in the Worth County School System. Throughout her life, she worked various jobs; however, she spent most of her working years at Albany State University as a dedicated, loyal employee until her retirement.

Spice of Life Ola Mae lived a rich-full life of 92 years. As many of you may know, this young lady was spicy and funny. Her laughter was infectious and filled the room. She believed in family and sure enough believed in God, and served Him, her family and friends well during her lifetime. She loved music and good food and cooked collard greens like manna from heaven. We imagine, on the other side, she is busy kicking it with her mother, father, sister, brothers, daughters and son. We love and surely will miss you.

On May 30, 2020, at Pruitt Health Care in Lilburn, Georgia, God picked a beautiful flower for his heavenly garden. With Ola Mae's passing, we lost a loving mother, grandmother, auntie, cousin and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, Bernice Ware, Geneva Nether, a son, James McKelvin, Jr., a son-in-law, Willie Ware, and four siblings, Dorothy R. Wesley, Jessie James Roberts, Otis Roberts Jr. and Lonnie C. Roberts, Sr..

She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted son and daughter in law, Mark and Evon Patricia McKelvin of Stone Mountain, Georgia; a son-in-law, Alvin Nether of Sylvester, Georgia, eleven grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
