Obituary For Samanthia Renee Edge
The funeral services for the late Ms. Samanthia Edge, who departed this life on Sunday, May 3, 2026, will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, 11:00 a.m. from the Greater St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Ashburn, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery.
Once upon a December morning, on December 5, 1964, in the quiet town of Ashburn, Georgia, a beautiful story began. That story belonged to Samanthia Renee Edge.
Born to the late Wallace and Doris Edge, Samanthia entered the world with a light that would one day warm the hearts of so many. From an early age, she carried a radiant spirit, a thoughtful mind, and a smile that could brighten even the heaviest room. Her laughter lingered long after the moment had passed, and her love made people feel safe, seen, and cared for.
As Samanthia grew, so did her curiosity about the world around her. She attended Turner County High School and later continued her journey at Georgia Southwestern University. Though life would lead her down many roads, she walked each one with determination, grace, and faith.
Her story eventually carried her to Atlanta, where she built a career in human resources and customer service. Through her work with It's About Time, Sam's Club, and Target, Samanthia had a way of making people feel important and cared for. A conversation with her could turn a difficult day into a hopeful one.
But perhaps one of the most beautiful chapters of Samanthia’s story was her love for creativity and storytelling. Deep inside her lived the heart of a writer. She dreamed of writing stories that would pour love into children’s hearts and remind people of their value. That dream became reality when she published her book, Snow Finds Value. Many more stories followed, each filled with imagination, lessons, tenderness, and hope. Samanthia’s creativity was not simply a talent; it was part of who she was.
Yet above all else, Samanthia’s greatest love was her faith in God.
She was a devoted Christian and faithful prayer warrior who believed deeply in the power of prayer, love, and God’s promises. For many years, she faithfully attended New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, where she poured her heart into serving others through ministries including Teachers Training, Beginners Ministry, Prayer Team, Women on the Path, and New Members Ministry. She spent countless hours studying the Word of God, growing in faith, and encouraging others along their spiritual journeys. Her faith was steady, sincere, and beautifully evident in the way she lived her life.
Later in life, Samanthia’s journey led her to Valdosta, where she lovingly cared for family. That was simply who she was. She showed love through presence, through prayer, through laughter, through listening, and through always making room for others.
Along the way, she experienced both joy and sorrow. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Wallace and Doris Edge; her sisters, Diane Finley and Teresa Artis; and her brother, Richard Edge.
And then, on May 3, 2026, after a life beautifully and faithfully lived, God gently called Samanthia home.
Though Samanthia’s earthly story has reached its final chapter, her love continues on in the lives of those she cherished most. She leaves to treasure her memory her sisters, Annie Doris Walker (Felton Walker), Marvalyn Edwards (Willie Edwards), and Debra Sullivan (Andrew Sullivan), all of Ashburn, Georgia; her brothers, Ed Edge of Ohio and Wallace Edge (Myra Edge) of Atlanta, Georgia; her sister-in-law, Janet Edge of Tampa, Florida; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and loved ones.
And while tears may fall because she is no longer here to hold our hands, laugh with us, or pray over us, we are grateful that Samanthia’s story was written into our lives at all.
For the story of Samanthia Edge will continue to live on through every life she touched, every prayer she prayed, every story she wrote, and every heart she loved.

It's been 10 days of your transition from this earth to resting with Yeshua. I've not been able to write a tribute or condolences until now. My best friend of more than 30+ years gone too soon for me! I can hear your voice saying "Hey Debra Calhoun" and my response, "hey Samanthia Renee Edge! We could be true to ourselves and truthful with one another! God knew we needed each other in our lives therefore He allowed iron to sharpen iron and I'm grateful! I'm thankful we shared our families with one another in more ways than one! Samanthia was the best and I miss her dearly! Well girl, I wonder if all those things we speculated about after leaving this earth is true. (You know the things we said people would pour oil all over us if they knew we had the audacity to question Lol). I'll see you later Samanthia Renee Edge!

I met Samanthia as a prayer warrior. I recently listened to a recorded conversation with her on July 4, 2025. This stands out among all others because she was so supportive and shared nuggets of wisdom that will remain with me. I looked forward to hearing her on the line and her laughter was so contagious as she, Lydia, Cathy and others reminisced of the good times they shared. Samanthia often spoke well of God, and her testimony inspired us all. I will miss her, but I thank God for the beautiful memories that will forever be etched in my life. Samanthia, words can't express the joy of having you in my life or how deeply you're already missed. But God has spoken, and I trust Him. He truly places people in the "cut" for us.
