A Time to be Born: Terrence Lamont Teemer was born on Saturday, October 2, 1971 at Doctor’s Hospital in Freeport, NY. He entered the world weighing 6 lbs. and 12 oz., eyes wide open, looking at his parents, Roger Teemer and Ella Pearl Polite.
A Time for Every Purpose Under the Heaven: At nine months, Terrence was in NY on the circle line with his paternal grandmother, Dollie Teemer. He received his formal education in Long Beach, NY and obtained his high school diploma in Georgia.
A Time to Worship: At the age of thirteen, Terrence confessed his faith in Christ. He was baptized and joined the Little Zion Church, known today as Zion Cathedral Church, under the watch of Reverend Frank O. White. Terrence was a pure example of how God exemplifies His glory through servitude. He joined the Sunshine Band Youth of Christ Choir, as well as served in many other capacities in the church.
A Time to Mature in Life: At the age of 23 years old, Terrence and Debbie Hankins were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Tarena La’Keshia Teemer. She was the apple of his eye. Tarena gave Terrence his only grandson, Kobe Laine Johnson. At the age of 25 years old, Terrence relocated to Sylvester, GA in 1996 to be closer to his family and his maternal grandmother, Minnie Lee Polite. He was always a quick thinker and creative with his processes, that lead him to many jobs. While in NY, he worked at Faber Plastic in Freeport, NY. During his time in GA, he enjoyed working at MediSave Pharmacy delivering medications. From this, he grew very fond of the elder population and he became affectionately known to them as…the Medicine Man.
Terrence was united in Holy Matrimony to Sheila Washington on September 7, 2004. They had a lovely family, one son, Christopher Washington; one daughter, Kiara Sanders; and one grand- daughter, Ciara Washington. Terrence’s favorite pastime was socializing with family and friends. He loved life, always being the spotlight of the party as the ultimate DeeJay (DJ Throw- back).
Eternal Rest: The heavenly Father’s reward peacefully came to Terrence on September 28, 2020 at his home. He boarded the “Ole Ship of Zion” for the bon voyage to our Father’s house of many mansions. He leaves to cherish his memories with fondness in their hearts his mother, Ella Pearl Polite, Long Beach, NY; his father Roger Teemer, Hempstead, NY; his beloved wife, Sheila, Atlanta, GA; daughters, Tarena, Long Beach, NY; and Kiara, Albany, GA; son, Christopher, Albany, GA; one sister, Ralisha Teemer, Tampa, FL; several aunts, Clara Polite (who raised him as her son), Long Beach, NY; Betty (Ishmael) Stephens, Sylvester, GA; Leola Polite, Sylvester, GA; Shirley Teemer, Long Beach, NY; several uncles, Willie (Joyce) Polite, Freeport, NY; Billy (Minnie) Polite, Albany, GA; Clarence (Sherry) Polite, Albany, GA; Earlie Teemer, Albany GA; and a loving godmother, Minister Doris Stephen, Long Beach, NY. 2 years ago round this same time I was going thru my own storm and wanted to give up. You told me giving up wasn't an option and next thing I knew you was at my house with encouraging words and a vanilla ice coffee to cheer me up. Your words always stuck with me. You said Nesha, I got you your not in this alone. I'm a different type of friend they don't make them like me no more. And boy was you sooo rite. You said more but the fact that you was ALWAYS THERE for me and the life/ inspirational speech alone stuck with me. You always told me to enjoy life, spread love and tell people that you love them daily. You never know if that will be the last time. Words cant begin to describe the bond you and I share. Right now as I sit typing this message I can clearly hear you say STOP ALL THAT CRYING MAN, I'm ok. But this ole heart of mines wont let me be great. lol. You was an fantastic dad, AMAZING friend, hard worker, my personal diary and my favorite libra. Had a ole soul but young at heart. Beautiful smile, one of a kind personality, My favorite dj, one of the best employees that ever came thru Destiny and PATS transportation, and the friendly Kool medisave medicine man. But most importantly you have ALWAYS been the true definition of A FRIEND. You've touched sooo many people in different ways. I wanna thank you for educating me on life, love and just simply for being you. Thanks to your family for sharing you with me. This is definitely a hard pill to swallow but eventually ill be ok. Terrence I love you man and I'm definitely gone miss you T. But I know that your happy and safe in his arms.
Forever your female best friend as you would say,
Kenisha S. Henderson
