Obituary For Tommie Lee King
The funeral services for the late Mrs. Tommie L. King, who departed this life on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. from the Turner County Civic Center in Ashburn, Georgia. Reverend Jerry Braswell will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia.
Mrs. Tommie Lee King, affectionately known as “Goby”, the daughter of the late Mr. Tommy Lawson and the late Mrs. Cleola Fulmore Lawson, was born on April 11, 1944 in Turner County. She attended schools in the Turner County Public School System.
Tommie Lee gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined the New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Coverdale, Georgia, where she was a faithful member and also served as Mother of the Church.
Tommie Lee was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. John King on February 10, 1962. This union was blessed with six sons and two daughters.
Tommie Lee served as a caregiver to the elderly and disabled, was an excellent cook.
On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the Angel of Death came once again to the King Family and the New Mt. Pleasant Church family. Our beloved Tommy Lee King (mother, grandmother) passed away at home with her family at her side; however, we feel that Jesus was with her during her dying hour and he gently enfolded her in His everlasting arms, and now He gives her peace. Her parents, her husband, a son, Marquis King, four sisters, Fannie Felton, Geneva Baldwin, Eva Lou Clark, Gloria Lawson, four brothers, Alton Lawson, John Fulmore, Gary Lawson, Arthur Roy Lawson, three great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, and five sisters-in-law have all preceded her in death.
Tommie Lee leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Lorenda (Ray) Hill, Melisa King; five sons, Johnny King, Demetrius King, Alfertion (Whitney) King, Jeffery King, Mark King; two special daughters, Vanessa Coley, Tonja Terry-Wilson; 24 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; three sisters, Inez Thomas, Margaret Smith, Wanda Lawson; a brother, Nathaniel (Devaine) Lawson; three sisters-in-law, Irene King, Deloise Lawson, Shirley Fullmore; a special friend, Irma Buchanan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
