The funeral services for the late Mrs. Virginia Hill, who departed this life on Sunday, October 4, 2026, will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. from the First African Baptist Church in Sylvester, Georgia. Pastor Nick Hillery will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery.
Mrs. Virginia Smith Hill was born on June 19, 1929, in Sylvester, Georgia, to Mr. and Mrs. Lacey and Lizzie Mae Hudson Smith. At an early age, Virginia joined Brooks Chapel Baptist Church (now First African Baptist Church), where she was a devoted and faithful servant of the Lord.
Virginia was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Alex Hill, Jr., and to this union, they shared a daughter.
Virginia touched the souls of many people. Her presence was a pleasant one, not only for her family and friends, but to all who came in contact with her. Virginia was truly unique and one of a kind. She was a caring and giving person with an infectious smile, and she never met a stranger. Although her physical presence is no longer here, her spirit remains in the lives of those she touched.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Alex Hill, Jr.; her parents Lacey and Lizzie Mae Smith; her sisters Willie Florence Austin (J. W.), Fannie Mae Hillery (Professor), Johnnie Mae Turner, Cornelia Brown (Artis), and Dorothy Hill (M. C.); and one brother Ezekiel H. Smith (Geneva).
Virginia leaves behind to cherish her memories five daughters, Mary Hill, Helen Ranson, Carrie Ranson, Emily Ranson, Janie Kitchen (Jimmy); one son, Pernell Ranson; one sister, Louise Hill (George); two grandchildren, Patrice Clay (Ben), Brittany Christian; one great-grandchild, Aulexis Burks (Camryn); two great-great-grandchildren, Eliana Burks and Elias Burks; along with a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
