Funeral services for Mr. Benjamin Louis "Bulldog" Lingard, 61, of Orangeburg, SC, will be held 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, 2868 Columbia Road, Orangeburg, with interment to follow in Sunnyside Cemetery,
Benjamin Louis Lingard was born on January 24, 1961 to Ethel Mae Lingard and Harold Lee Lingard, Sr. in St. George, South Carolina. At an early age, Benjamin joined and was baptized, at Harvey Chapel Baptist Church in St. George, South Carolina.
Benjamin was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County and was a 1979 graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. While in high school, he was a member of the basketball team. After high school, Benjamin was a long distance driver for many years. Benjamin loved fishing, playing basketball and spending time with family, especially his grandson.
Benjamin was called home October 25, 2022, at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Judy E. Kelly.
He leaves to cherish precious memories: his wife, Peggy Carol Lingard of St. Matthews, SC; two sons: Dominic Darby of Orangeburg, SC and Benjamin “Mark” Lingard, Jr. of St. Matthews, SC; four sisters: Linda Williams of Orangeburg, SC, Sandra (Jessie) Smalls of Columbia, SC, Valerie (Gerald) Nesbitt of Irmo, SC and Sheila Lingard of Orangeburg, SC; three brothers: James (Keron) Lingard of Warner Robins, GA, Harold (Trilby) Lingard of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands and Reginald (Wezi) Lingard of Seattle, WA; two grandchildren: Kyra Darby of Orlando, FL and Benjamin “NuNu” Lingard all of St. Matthews, SC; a special mother-in-law, Catherine Vick-White of St. Matthews, SC; a sister-in-law who he loved dearly, Karen Melissa White of St. Matthews, SC; a special “second mother,” Rebecca Sistrunk of Orangeburg, SC; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 4, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
