Funeral services for Mr. Frank W. Greene Sr., 84, of Orangeburg, SC, will be held 11:00am, Friday, March 28, 2025, at St. Paul Baptist Church, 2259 Rowesville Road, Orangeburg, with interment to follow at Gethsemane Memorial Garden.
Mr. Greene will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Greene passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, at his residence.
Frank W Greene Sr (Billy) was born June 13, 1940, to the late David and Mabel Greene in Brooklyn, NY. He entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
After the death of his mother at the age of three, he was brought to Orangeburg, SC to be raised by his Aunt Julia Green Felder (Missy), where he attended Orangeburg County Public Schools and joined St. Stephen United Methodist Church.
Frank relocated back to NY as a young man, where he later met the love of his life, Peggy Thompson. They were united in holy matrimony on June 17, 1961, and through this blessed union, five children were born.
Frank became a certified welder and worked in the welding industry in New York City and driving a taxicab throughout the New York area. In 1980, he obtained a position with the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority as a bus driver until he retired. During his tenure as a bus driver, he earned numerous awards. He received Safe Driving Awards in 1985, 1988, 1990 and 1996. In 1993, he received an Appreciation and Recognition for Loyal Service Award. He was presented with a 20 Years of Service Award in 2002.
He joined Mt. Moriah A.M.E. Church Queens, NY, where he served as a trustee.
After retirement he relocated back to Orangeburg SC where he volunteered with Council on Aging delivering meals on wheels. He became a member of Kingdom Life Ministries and served as an usher. He later joined St. Paul Baptist Church, where he served as a parking attendant, senior ministries and sang on the male chorus.
Frank W Greene Sr was preceded in death by his parents, David and Mabel Greene; one sister, Mary Greene-Epps; five brothers: Coleman, David (Pete) Tracy, Terry and Robert (Bobby) Greene; and one great grandson Kaicyn Sylver.
He leaves to cherish his wife of 63 years, Peggy Thompson Greene; four daughters: Vanessa Green Tirado of Charlotte, NC, Jennifer Green Sylver (Patrick) of North Port, FL, Victoria Green William (Richard) of Deltona, FL, and Joyce Green of Deltona, FL; two sons: Frank W Greene Jr of Orangeburg, SC and Bryant Graham of Columbus, GA; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law: Barbara Thompson of SC, Debra Greene of FL, Tracy Thompson of NC and Flora Thompson of SC; three brothers-in-law: Leondas Thompson of NC, Wilbert Thompson (Sue) of VA, Daniel Thompson of NC; special cousins: Patsy Green Anderson of FL, Gwendolyn Pringle of SC and Earle Mae Summers of SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that will miss him dearly.
The family would like to give special thanks to Sherlean Edwards Senior Help Companion and Amedisys Nurses and Certified Nurse Assistant.
Public viewing will be held Thursday, March 27, from 1-6pm.

My heart was so saddened to learn that Mr. Greene had passed. Mr. Greene was such a nice person and every time we communicated he was always the same. May God shield Mrs. Greene at this time and the days ahead. Good night my friend and take your rest. We Love you but God Loves you BEST.
