Funeral services for Mr. James Clay Sistrunk, 59, of 509 Eastwood Circle, Orangeburg, will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, 2868 Columbia Road, Orangeburg, SC, with interment to follow in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Orangeburg, SC. Reverend Velma M. Hayward is the Eulogist and Reverend Thurman Williams is Presiding.
Mr. James Clay Sistrunk, Sr., the miracle son of Mrs. Annie Colter Sistrunk and the late Mr. Matthew Sistrunk was born in the beautiful county of Orangeburg, South Carolina on August 3, 1960. James departed this life on Monday, March 16, 2020 in Cheraw, South Carolina.
James was educated in the public school system of Orangeburg county and a proud graduate of Orangeburg Wilkinson High School. James was a hard worker all his life and provided for his family through gainful employment as a machine operator at Farmers Concrete and Carpenter Technology both in Orangeburg. His motto in life was "One day at a time", which he always expressed to his family. James always lifted up holy hands in praise to God and reminded his family to trust God.
At an early age, he joined St, John United Methodist Church, where he remained faithful until his wife on the ministry journey as her full-time support. James was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life Annie. This union was blessed by God for 36 beautiful years until his untimely death.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Corine Mack and Napoleon Colter; paternal grandparents: Mary Brown and Walter Sistrunk; and sister Shirley Mae Sistrunk.
The legacy of James shall continue through the love of his life the Reverend Annie Hair Sistrunk; this union was blessed with four children, Mrs. Lakisha R. (SSG. Louis Owens) Owens of Missouri, Mrs. LaTonya D. (LaTerrence) Mack of South Carolina, Mr. Matthew (LaMonica) Sistrunk of Texas, Mr. James Clay (Priscilla) Sistrunk, Jr. of South Carolina; his mother, Mrs. Annie Mae Sistrunk; one sister, Ms. Betty S. Moore both of South Carolina; four sisters-in-law: Mrs. Rebecca Henriquez, Mrs. Alice (James) Williams, Mrs. Maryann Parker and Mrs. Alberter Kirkland all of South Carolina; five brothers-in-law: Mr. Moses Cleckley, Mr. Jacob Cleckley, Mr. David (Melissa) Cleckley all of South Carolina, Mr. Robert (Terry) Edwin of New York, and Mr. Sidney Edwin of Pennsylvania; two aunts: Ms. Evelyn Colter of New York and Mrs. Annie B. St. Hilarie of Pennsylvania; one uncle, Mr. Albert Haire of Connecticut; 23 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 23, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
