I was deeply saddened when I heard of the passing of Mr. Jerry Sistrunk. We grew up in the same community (North Road and the Kennerly Road). Playing the guitar was indeed his passion! It was also a spiritual connection that penetrated our souls. As a guitarist, Mr. Jeremiah "Jerry" Sistrunk inspired and uplifted us to praise God in music, songs and deed. He was simply God's gift to many of us. My sincere condolences to the Sistrunk Family.

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry to hear this, to Joyce and Jerry's family you have my deepest condolences. Jerry was one of my best colleagues and friends at IBM. I called him Doc J and he called me JW and every time we got together we would joke and laugh until our bellies hurt. I just spoke to him last September and it was like we hadn't missed a beat. Jerry was one of the nicest and most genuine people you could ever meet. I will always cherish our friendship and the time we spent together. RIP Doc J.
To Joyce and the rest of Jerry's family you have my deepest condolences. When we started working together we just clicked. I got to see what a great rapport he had and his customers just lit up to have him onsite to take care of any of their needs. He arranged some of the branch meetings in Orangeburg with some really fine BBQ. It wasn't long after meeting him that it was just luck that we'd get classes in Atlanta and partner together in the labs and classroom on AS/400 products. He tried to get me drinking coffee to stay awake in class and would catch me in the "zone" as he called it and push some more coffee. I'll always remember his quit wit and remember he played Bass Guitar. I'm keeping that picture. RIP Doc. J.
To the Sistrunk Family. There are not enough words to describe the sadness and shock. Jerry was an all around man of dignity, standard, respect and love. He was a gentle giant, with a pleasant personality and always encouraging others. Jerry was a "ray of Sunshine" to so many. God blessed Jerry with the gift to play his "Bass Guitar" and he played it in an awe-inspiring manner. A "great" musician he was. Jerry will be remember not only for his musical talent but also his professional skill-sets with IBM. He was a great technician/mechanic. Please know that God in his ineffable always right, and NEVER wrong power knows best. We will continue to lift you up in prayer as you embrace this great loss of one so dear, so real, and so loved. The world is a better place because Jeremiah "Jerry" Sistrunk once travelled through this land. May God strengthen you and keep you endowed in his care. Minnie Z. Brothers and Family
