Funeral services for Mr. Larry Felder, 72, of Orangeburg, SC, will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, 2868 Columbia Road, Orangeburg, with interment to follow in Gethsemane Memorial Garden.
Larry Felder, Sr. was born April 16, 1953 in Orangeburg, SC to the late Eartha Lee and Willie Earl Felder. He entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at his residence.
Larry was educated in the Orangeburg public school system and later attended South Carolina State College. A true adventurer at heart, he spent time living in Atlanta, GA, and Chicago, IL, alongside his spirited Uncle Jacob before ultimately returning to his beloved hometown.
Upon his return, he found meaningful employment with Sunbeam Bakery, where he worked with loyalty and diligence for many years until his health began to decline. At an early age, he joined Saint Paul Baptist Church in Orangeburg, with his mother, under the Pastorship of Reverend H. T. Williams. He remained a member, holding fast to his faith even as his health waned and he couldn’t attend anymore.
Larry, or “Wook,” as he was affectionally called, married Betty Ann Frazier, and out of this union came two beautiful children: Arhonda Dixon (Torry) of Frederick, MD and Larry Felder, Jr (Jaron) of Atlanta, GA; six siblings: Willie Felder (Bertha) of Walterboro, SC, Ronald Felder of Summerville, SC, Gloria Felder-Way (David) of Orangeburg, SC, Horace Felder (Sharon) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Harry Felder of
Orangeburg, SC and Calvin Felder (Lauren) of Durham, North Carolina: four grandchildren: Cortney Hayes, Jaydah Felder, Christian Felder, and Averi Felder, all of Atlanta, GA;16 nieces and nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Larry was a quiet, fun-loving, and deeply family-oriented man. Generous to a fault, he would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His love for his children was deep and unwavering, but when his grandchildren arrived, they quickly became the light of his life. He proudly spoke of them at every opportunity, his face beaming with joy.
A devoted sports enthusiast and avid reader, Larry kept those around him informed of the latest in the sports world. His heart, however, always belonged to South Carolina State University—he was forever a Bulldog.
Larry’s presence, his kindness, and his steadfast love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Felder passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at his residence.
Public viewing will be held Monday, July 7, 2025, from 2-6pm.
