Funeral Services for Mr. Marion Oscar Walker, 71, of 566 Lewis Dunton, St., Orangeburg, will be held 11:00 am, Friday, June 7, 2019 at Simmons Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel, 2868 Columbia Rd, Orangeburg, with interment to follow in Edisto Fork Cemetery. Reverend Ellis White, Jr. is officiating.
Mr. Walker passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Walker was born August 14, 1947 in Orangeburg, SC and was the second child born to Lemuel and Serlena Johnson Walker.
Marion was a proud member of George Washington Carver High School class of 1965 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Claflin University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He was always eager to learn and continued his studies at other institutions of higher education. Marion retired from Bamberg Job Corp, where he enjoyed counselling the youth and young adults.
He was a people person who knew the Word of God and loved talking about it to anyone who would listen.
He was a member of Edisto Fork United Methodist Church, which was formerly Jerusalem United Methodist Church.
Marion leaves to cherish precious memories, one son, Marion O. Walker, Jr.; two daughters, Ms. Gwendolyn A. Fulton and Ms. Myra Walker; one brother, Mr. Larry (Ruthell) Walker; two sisters, Mrs. Jacquelyn (Attorney) Lawrence) Keitt and Cynthia (Ronald) Walker-Huggins; a special sister, Mrs. Lillie Mae Jones; three aunts, Mrs. Violet Gass, Mrs. Margaret (Elton) Jones and Ms. Betty Johnson; very special friends, Mr. Willie B. Stevenson and Ms. Jo Helen Baker; two grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 12:00 noon – 8:00 pm.
Family and friends may call at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Cynthia Walker Huggins, 2525 Fairway Dr., Orangeburg or Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory of Orangeburg.
