Obituary For Mr. Matthew Mood

Funeral services for Mr. Matthew Mood, 54, of Orangeburg, SC, will be held 11:00am, Saturday, January 7, 2023, at St. Matthews K-8 School, 135 Saints Ave., St. Matthews, SC, with interment to follow in Union AME Church Cemetery, Elloree, SC. Pastor Leslie Lovett is officiating.

Mr. Matthew Jay Mood, son of Ada Kendrick and John Shivers, was born June 13, 1968. He gained his wings December 30, 2022.

Matthews was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County, South Carolina and was self-employed as a truck driver and also worked for Gibson and Quattlebaum.

Matthew accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Union AME Church, Elloree, South Carolina.

Matthew leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Shanita Mood; daughters: LaQuandria Lawton of Elloree, SC and Jada Mood; one son, Justin Mood of Charlotte, NC; parents: Ada Kendrick of Elloree, SC and John Shivers of Orangeburg, SC; sisters: Melissa Brown of Elloree, SC, Katrina Shivers of Charleston, SC, Trinea Shivers of Orangeburg, SC and Tonya Taylor of Philadelphia, PA; brothers: Funtella (Vanessa) Brown of Easley, SC, Otis (Tameka) Brown of Orangeburg, SC and Barry (Kia) Brown of Sumter, SC; maternal grandmother, Pearline Mood; one grandchild, Caderiah Darby of Elloree, SC; mother-in-law, Carolyn Major; sister-in-law, Lavita Barnes Moultrie of Georgia; brother-in-law, Calvin (Jamie) Oxnard of California; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 6, 2023, from 1:00pm - 6:00pm, at Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.
