Obituary For Mr. Ricky "Bulldog" "Country Boy" Davis

Graveside services for Mr. Ricky “Bulldog” “Country Boy” Davis, 56, of 7513 Old #6 Highway, Santee, SC will be held 11:00AM Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the Katie Martin Cemetery in Santee, SC with interment to follow. Evangelist Cassie Davis is officiating.

Ricky “Bulldog” Davis entered into Eternity on September 5, 2021. Ricky was born November 23, 1964, to the late Johnny Lee Davis Sr. and Elease Amous Davis in Santee, SC.

Ricky attended the public school system of Orangeburg County. He graduated from Holly Hill Roberts. From a child Ricky was a notable baseball player. He played baseball in high school and later with recreational leagues in Connecticut. While in Connecticut he earned the name “Big Country” in the softball circuit.

After high school Ricky moved to Connecticut and started his truck driving career. He continued to drive trucks until his death. He was employed with CTS Trucking in Holly Hill, SC. Although trucking was his profession, Ricky had many talents including cooking, playing cards and bowling. While in Charlotte he was a member of a bowling league.

Being in Ricky’s presence guaranteed you a good time. He was loving, caring, and protective of those he loved and cared for. In his travels between Connecticut and Charlotte Ricky made lots of friends that became family. His distinct, deep, raspy voice was one of a kind and could be recognized by anyone who knew him. His animated stories were always a treat for the listener’s ears.

Ricky spent many years in Connecticut, before moving to Charlotte and eventually, moving back home to Santee.

Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Lee Sr; sister Mary Ann Davis Canty; nephews, Allen Jenkins and Marvin King; and nieces, Candice Davis and Shalonda Stewart.

Ricky will be loved and remembered by his mother, Elease Amous Davis of Vance, SC; one brother, Johnny Lee (Michelle) Davis Jr, of Holly Hill, SC; five sisters: Maybelle (Joseph) King of Vance, SC; Evangelist Cassie Davis of Orangeburg, SC; Elouise Davis and Patricia Taylor of Santee, SC, and Geraldine Randolph of New York; one uncle, Frank (Betty Jean) Amous of Holly Hill, SC; twenty-six nieces and nephews; a special friend, Ethel Middleton, of Cross, SC; and a host of cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 10, 2021, from 12:00PM to 7:00PM at the Simmons Funeral Home of Santee, 8824 Old Number Six Highway, Santee, SC.

Friends may visit the residence, 7513 Old #6 Highway, Santee, SC.
