Funeral services for Mr. Sequan Powell, 25, of 110 Elephant Road, Santee, will be held 11:00am, Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Lake Marion High School and Technology Center, 3656 Tee Vee Road, Santee, SC, with interment to follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Santee, SC.
SaQuan Dontrell “Boss” Powell, was born on August 27, 1997 in Durham, North Carolina to Stephanie Powell and Damian Powell. He departed this earthly life and was called home to be with God on January 15, 2023.
At an early age, he joined Oak Grove Baptist Church in Santee, South Carolina. At the tender age of eight, he became a member of the Superstars for Christ basketball team led by Walter Shaw Sr. On December 20, 2009 he was baptized by the late Reverend Sammie T. Nelson.
Quan, as he was affectionately called by his mother, was educated in the Orangeburg County School District. He also attended Calhoun Technical College, where he obtained his CDL Certification and fulfilled his dream of becoming a truck driver. He was employed with East Trucking. He wore the biggest smile when he was behind the wheel. He hoped one day to own his own trucking company, which he would have named it Boss Worldwide Logistics, LLC. SaQuan launched Boss The Shooter, LLC, where he recorded music videos and was a photographer.
He loved basketball, making music and hanging with family and friends. He also loved to cook and will be remembered for his bright and affectionate smile.
He has preceded in death by his grandparents: Willie Robinson, Arthur Legree and Leroy Hill.
SaQuan leaves to cherish his fond memories, his mother, Stephanie Powell (Louis Rivers) of Bowman, SC; his father, Damian (Tina) Powell of Durham, NC; one brother, Damian Powell of the home they shared; three sisters: Kayla, Jayla and Jamiyah Powell all of Durham, NC; a bonus brother, Jayr Shaw of Santee, SC; his grandparents: Martha Washington of Santee, SC, Barbara Lagree of N. Charleston, SC and Jeanette Robinson of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his canine best friend, Milo; a host of aunts and uncles his mentors: Mr. & Mrs. Walter Lee Shaw Sr. and Russell Hezekiah; an enormous amount of other relatives, cousins and friends especially Jay R., Timmy, Kez, Swagg, Mondo, Sax, Mike Jack, Dre Dawg, Earl, Booda and K. Smoove, Nikki, Stacey, The Sunday Crew. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 11:00am- 6:00pm, and Simmons Funeral Home of Santee, SC.
