Graveside services for Mr. Thomas “Kurt” Thames, Jr., 64, of 228 East Clark Street, Pinewood, SC, will be held 1:00pm, Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Kingdom Builders Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 15 South, Sumter, SC.
Thomas Thames, Jr., the son of Minnie Billie and the late Vernon Thames, Sr., was born on April 6, 1956 In Clarendon County, South Carolina. He was called from labor to eternal rest on Monday, June 22, 2020.
He was a 1978 graduate of Scott's Branch High School.
He was employed for 35 years with Laidlaw Environmental Service / Sumter Transport of Pinewood, South Carolina. He was also the owner of Thames Lawn Service.
Thomas was a faithful member of Kingdom Builders Deliverance Ministries, where he served on the Trustee's Ministry, was a dedicated Sunday School Member, Usher and was willing to serve in any other capacity where he was needed.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Traveah Myers and Lasya Cooke, two sisters and one brother.
Thomas leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 30 years, Marguerite Canty Thames of the home; his mother, Minnie Billie; four children: Iris Felder, Ivy Felder, LaToya Canty and Shantrell Thames; four brothers: Cleveland Frazier, Vernon Thames, Jr., Sam Billie and Willie Thames; four sisters: Frances (Ernest) Green, Katherine (Rev. Charlie) Hampton, Mary Ann (Ernest) Green and Rosa Thames; seven grandchildren; mother-in-law, Margaret Canty; and a host of aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held 3:00pm Friday, June 26, 2020 at Kingdom Builder Deliverance Ministries, 621 West Liberty Street, Sumter, SC.
