Funeral services for Mr. Victor L. Haigler, 61, of Orangeburg, SC, will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, 2868 Columbia Road, with interment to follow in Belleville Memorial Gardens.
Victor Lavandor Haigler, the youngest of four children born to the late Marion, Sr. and Annie Joyce Haigler, was born August 14, 1961. He entered eternal rest March 28, 2023.
Victor accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Brown Chapel AME Church in Cameron, South Carolina.
Victor was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County and was a 1979 graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, where he was a standout basketball player and State Champion. Victor continued his educational pursuits at Claflin University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology/Criminal Justice Administration.
Victor had a warm, outgoing personality; and used his charm and love of people in his retail career, which spanned several decades. He served as a salesman and retail manager at numerous stores throughout Virginia and South Carolina.
On June 10, 2000, Victor married his best friend and love of his life, Rita. They laughed together, dreamed together and loved one another unconditionally, until he was called home to be with the Lord.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents.
Victor is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Dr. Rita Berry-Haigler; one daughter, Raquel Drummond of Virginia; two sisters: Mariam Haigler and Sharon Chapin both of Orangeburg, SC; one brother, Marion (Diane) Haigler, Jr. of Orangeburg, SC; sisters-in-law: Denise (Rev. Morris) Pate of Blackshear, GA, Cynthia (Lionell) Sabb of Orangeburg, SC; Janet Berry of Orangeburg, SC; Angela (Kendell) Jamison of Cockeysville, MD, and Laquyin Brock of Virginia; one god-daughter, Kimberly Roundtree of Columbia, SC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 31, 2023, from 3:00pm - 6:00pm.
Family and friends may visit the residence of his wife, Dr. Rita Berry-Haigler, 109 Dorchester Street, Orangeburg, SC, or call Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory of Orangeburg.
