Funeral services for Mrs. Delia Johnson, 94, of 2525 Old St. Matthews Road, Orangeburg, will be held 11:00am, Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, 2868 Columbia Road, Orangeburg, with interment to follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
Delia Johnson, of Brooklyn, NY, passed from this life of natural causes on September 17, 2023, in Orangeburg, SC at the age of 94.
Delia was born on November 19, 1928, in Denmark, South Carolina, the daughter of Richard Holman and Ogreta Loyd. She married Jessie Lee Johnson, from Tarboro, NC.
A native of Denmark, SC, Delia left for Brooklyn, NY at an early age where she raised her family and evangelized to many congregations. She is known for her sweet singing voice and passionate preaching style. She was employed by the United States Postal
Service for 41 years. After retiring, she spent her years traveling, helping neighbors, and
attending Church service.
The family is grateful for the compassionate and diligent care given to her in her final
years from Stokes Residential Care in Orangeburg, SC.
She is preceded by her four sons: Michael, Odell, Jewell, and Edmund; her siblings: Allen, Richard, Matthew, Roudolph, Sissie, and Aluilda.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Barbour, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 22, 2023, from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.
