As a kid growing up Vernell's home was always open to me. She never turned me away; she welcomed me with open arms. She was a great cook and I especially loved her fruitcake which she finally shared her secret recipe with me for my wife to make - it was delicious and chocked full of fruits and nuts! Vernell was like a second mother. She will be missed. I pray that she rests in God's eternal peace. Sending prayers and wishing comfort to all her family. With love, Eugene & Amy Johnson
