Funeral services for Ms. Doretha Haigler Worley, 84, of Orangeburg, SC, will be held 11:00am, Monday, August 4, 2025, at Brown Chapel AME Church, 195 Browns Chapel Road, Elloree, with interment to follow at Brown Chapel AME Church Cemetary.
Doretha Haigler Worley, was born on July 13, 1941, in Cameron, South Carolina, to Preston and Rosa Harmon Haigler. She departed this life for eternal rest on July 29, 2025.
A true woman of God, Doretha lived her life with unwavering faith, love, and grace. She filled every room with warmth, joy, and the smell of something delicious cooking on the stove. She had a heart as big as the ocean she loved to cruise across, always seeking adventure, beauty, and new memories with her family. Whether she was preparing a meal, sharing a smile, or simply being present, she gave her love freely and fully.
Doretha was a light; always positive, always encouraging, and always loving. Her legacy lives on in every hug, every home-cooked meal, and every act of kindness we show to others. Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit, her laughter, and her love will remain with us always. We love you Doretha. Rest peacefully in God’s embrace.
Doretha was a member of Brown Chapel AME Church of Elloree, South Carolina and was employed by Earl Dukes BBQ, Duke’s BBQ and Antley’s BBQ.
She was preceded in death by: Andrea Glivens, Preston Haigler, Jr., Elizabeth Mack, John Haigler, Ruthell Clinton, Rose Bud Franklin, George Haigler, Minnie Mitchell and Lorine Felder
She leaves to cherish her memory six daughters: Sharron (James) Worley-Torrence, Sandra (William) Puryear, Jennifer Rickenbacker, Beverly (Regina) Worley, Angelica (Anthony) Capers, Tonya Worley; one son, Charles (Toi) Worley; fifteen grandchildren, Charles (Andrea) Worley, Jr., Cameron Worley, Ashley Glivens, Denesha Haigler, Anthony (Marjorie) Capers, Akilah Worley, Karla (Denzel) Davis, Gabriel Puryear, Sara (Christian) Scott, DeaShia Manigo, Demaro Shark, Roger Manigo, Alexia Capers, Danalli Manigo, Nicholas Rimmer; four great-grandchildren, Elias Williams, KaCeon Islar, Kylee Rimmer, Kehlani Kearney; two sisters, Cola Henderson, Pauline (James) Williams; other family and friends.
Public viewing will be held Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 2-6pm.
