Obituary For Ms. Essence Stroman

Private funeral services will be held for Miss Essence Stroman, 15, of 145 Bugle Flowers Road, St. Matthews, SC.

Essence Marquita Stroman journey into life began December 21, 2004, in Orangeburg, SC. Essence’s journey ended on May 17, 2020.

She departed this life with her mother, Shanta Singleton and her sister, Trevay Stroman. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Marquita Singleton.

Left to cherish the memories of Essence is her father, Marcus Singleton of Norway, SC; her two loving sisters, Shantasia and Trevonna Stroman of Orangeburg, SC; grandparents, Doris Stroman of Orangeburg, SC, Elijah (Jannie) Fields of North, SC, Regina (Larry) Sapp of Norway, SC, William Bloome of Neeses, SC; great grandmothers; Frances Stroman of Orangeburg, SC, Doristeen Fields of North, SC, and Lillie Bloome of Neeses, SC; God-parents, Herman (Jeanette) Fields of Hopkins, SC; God-sister, Shontell Fields of Hopkins, SC and God-brother, Stephon Fields of Columbia, SC; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. Essence’s favorite color was blue. She was a fashion diva who loved her make-up and clothing. Essence enjoyed cheering, dancing and singing. She was very intelligent, smart, and loving. She attended Calhoun County High School. Because of her academic achievement, she was selected to represent Calhoun County High School at the 2020 National Youth Leadership forum for medicine.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 24, 2020 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm. Masks are required to gain entry to the funeral home.

Friends may call at the Stroman residence, 899 Nance Street, Orangeburg or Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory of Orangeburg. Immediate family may visit the residence daily between the hours of 4:00pm – 7:00pm. Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions.
