Obituary For Ms. Patricia Ann Brown Perry
Funeral services for Ms. Patricia Ann Brown Perry, 76, of Baltimore, MD, will be held 11:00am, Friday, June 19, 2026, at Williams Chapel AME Church, Orangeburg, SC, with interment to follow at Belleville Memorial Garden, Orangeburg, SC.
Ms. Patricia Ann Brown Perry will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Ms. Patricia Ann Brown Perry, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026, in Baltimore, MD.
Ms. Patricia Ann Brown Perry was born on March 23, 1950, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, to the late Mr. Bennie M. Brown, Sr. and Mrs. Josephine Boykin Brown. She departed this earthly life on June 1, 2026.
She graduated from Orangeburg Wilkinson High School in 1968 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and Home Economics from South Carolina State College in 1972.
Patricia dedicated more than 40 years to education as an elementary and middle school teacher. She taught in both California and Maryland and retired from the Prince George’s County Public School System in 2017.
Patricia was baptized at Williams Chapel AME Church and accepted Christ at a young age. She was a longtime member of New Shiloh Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, where she served faithfully on the Deacon Board.
Patricia was affectionately known as “Tricia,” “Pat,” and “Aunt Pat.” She was a generous and loving soul whose warm, outgoing spirit made everyone around her feel loved and appreciated. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ, her family, her friends, teaching, the color purple, and shopping—especially for shoes. She was also an avid fan of the South Carolina State University Bulldogs and the Baltimore Ravens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ms. Miriam E. Brown Aiken; her niece, Ms. Valerie R. Aiken; and her nephew, Mr. Christopher A. Aiken.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her sister, Rev. Sandra Brown Young of Atlanta, Georgia; her brothers, Mr. Michael M. Brown of San Leandro, California, Mr. Bennie M. Brown, Jr. (Beth) of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and James Bernard Brown of Hollywood, California; her nieces, Mrs. Labrena Aiken-Furtick (Jim) of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Ms. Marion L. Brown of Columbia, South Carolina, Ms. Lesly Brown of Los Angeles, California, and Ms. Misha Riley of Oakland, California; and her nephew, Mr. Charles A. Aiken of Houston, Texas.
She also leaves her Aunt, Mrs. Amelia Boykin Townsend of Florence, South Carolina.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 3:00pm - 6:00pm.

I use to teach with Pat when I first became a preschool teacher in the mid 1970s. She was such a joy to teach with and became a good friend for over 50 years. I will miss her dearly. I am praying for her family.

Godmommy Pat was my preschool teacher, the godmother of my best friend Amber Guzman. We had a chance to spend time together in 2021 and for the last five years, she would check on me regularly. She was such an inspiration so loving, and I know that she cared deeply for me, her goddaughter, her grand goddaughter. She would ask about my mom. Sent condolences when my dad died. She had a good heart. She was just a truly loving person.

May God continue to comfort the family on the loss of our sister Patricia. I am thankful that God allowed our paths to cross years ago at Greenbelt Middle School. My condolences to Deacon Patricia Perry's family. The memory I wanted to share is that Deacon Pat was a fun and caring person who loved the Lord and live according to her purpose was to be helpful to everyone she could. Deacon Pat generosity was astounding to New Shiloh Baptist Church where she was a dedicated Deacon who served effortlessly. It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to my former mentor, Ms. Pat Perry.
When I began my teaching career 24 years ago, I was blessed to have Ms. Perry by my side. As a new teacher, I had much to learn, and she generously shared her wisdom, patience, encouragement, and unwavering belief in me. She did more than mentor me—she helped shape the educator and leader I would become.
Over the years, our relationship grew far beyond that of mentor and mentee. We became Christian sisters, united by our faith and our commitment to serving others. We prayed together, shared countless lunches, celebrated victories, navigated challenges, and supported one another through life's many seasons. What began as professional guidance blossomed into a lifelong friendship. Ms. Perry became one of my most trusted confidants, and I will forever cherish the bond we shared.
One of the greatest gifts she gave me was her constant encouragement through prayer. She often reminded me of the Prayer of Jabez and challenged me to pray boldly:
"Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain." (1 Chronicles 4:10)
She encouraged me to trust God with my future, to walk faithfully in my purpose, and to believe that God could do more through me than I could ever imagine. Her words, prayers, and example strengthened my faith and helped sustain me throughout my journey in education.
As I reflect on my 24th year in education, I know without question that Ms. Perry is one of the reasons I am still here. Her influence extends far beyond my classroom and career; it lives on in the countless students, educators, and leaders who have been touched by those she mentored and inspired.
Thank you, Ms. Perry, for believing in me when I was just beginning my journey. Thank you for your prayers, your wisdom, your friendship, and your love. Your impact on my life is immeasurable, and your memory will forever hold a special place in my heart.
My deepest condolences and prayers go out to her family, friends, former students, and all whose lives were touched by her remarkable spirit.
