Larry Bernard McGinty Sr. was a native Atlantan born to loving parents, Leila Lyons & Wallace McGinty Sr, on March 20, 1954. Larry attended school at Booker T. Washington High School and graduated in the class of 1972. After high school, he joined the Armed Services and was a telecommunication officer in the general Army. After completing his 4-year enlistment, he returned to his beloved Atlanta where he met his wife, Mrs. Floeta R. McGinty. They enjoyed 24 years of marital contentment until she passed away in 2006. Floeta and Larry were parents to five children but had a vast network of family and friends, upon whom they showered much love and endearment. Larry, affectionately known as Cubie & Big Red, was a great man with a big voice and an even bigger heart. He is described by many as a loving father and good husband. Larry was generous and kind-hearted. His favorite pastimes included attending his grandsons’ football games and grilling/preparing homecooked meals to share with prized family members and friends. Everyone knew that if you wanted some fall-off-the-bone ribs or some delicious dressing that Cubie was the man to call. Larry will be sorely missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leila & Wallace, his wife, Floeta (Flo), and his beloved brothers, James (Jimmy), Charles (Tony), and Wallace Jr. He is survived by his five children, Damon, Larry Jr, Tiffanie, Kimberlee, and Charles; brothers, William (Susie), Erroyl (Rose), Ronald, and Gregory (Jenifer); his grandchildren, Skylar, Anthony, Jonathan, MacKenzie, Chaise, Tayler, Kynnedi, and Mason; a doting mother-in law, Mary Daniel; a special friend, Ms. Lucky Ann McCoy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends to cherish his memory.
