Pastor Mattie Lou Foster Slade passed on July 29, 2021. Funeral Service for Mrs. Slade will be held on Saturday August 7, 2021at 12 noon in our Chapel(3047 Campbellton Rd. SW., Atlanta, Ga. 30311.). Viewing Friday August 6, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 6:00pm. Service will be livestream (go to www.smithdennissmith.com and select her obituary then scroll to end and select her Funeral link). Obituary
Evangelist Mattie Lou Foster Slade was June 17, 1948 to the late S.T. and Catherine Foster in Fairburn, Ga. She was proceeded in death by her sister; Nannie Willis, Idella Willis, Margaret Merritt and brothers; Joe Foster, Willie T. Foster and Antwone Foster. She accepted Christ in her life at an early age. She graduated Fairburn High School in 1967. She furthered her education by attending Atlanta Area Tech. She united in Holy Matrimony to Rev. Earl Howard Slade who founded New Lily of the Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Upon his death, Evangelist Slade became pastor for 30 years of the church in which her husband founded. She was a God fearing and Holy Ghost full child of the King. Her kind heart and desire for helping people was demonstrated throughout her life. She was a true child of God. She fed the home-less and delivered meals on wheels to the sick and shut-ins. She retired from Atlanta Journal and Constitution. She was also employed with Atlanta Meals on Wheels and Atlanta Voice. God loved his daughter so much he decided her works were done and the good fight of faith was well. She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and dedicated daughter Cathryne Foster Clayton and loving grandson, Matthew Clayton (Sparkle), one great-grand daughter, Malia Janelle Clayton, two brothers, Curtis Foster (Juanita), Rev. Milton Foster; two sisters, Many Powell, Minister Pamela Lambert one son-in-law Nathaniel Clayton and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
I will always remember you my mom, my best friend and most of all a woman of God. I treasure every moment we had together for 52 years. God blessed me with the best mom ever, one his finest. Thank you for everything and I am looking forward to seeing you again. Love your daughter Cathryne

During the time of grief it is easy to get lost in our feelings of sorrow and despair. It can be harder to sit in comfort knowing that our loved one is with our ALMIGHTY CREATOR "GOD". Who has THE plan. I want to send my deepest condolences and love during this trying time!!
