Mr. Allen Edward Hooks was born November 27, 1962, in Lee County. He was the loving son of Frances E. Robinson Hooks and the late Harry Hooks. On Monday, July 6, 2020 our beloved brother took the path that we too will take one day. We are taught to be, absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, when we die in Christ. Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate his life and the memories we shared with him.
Allen received his education in the public schools of Lee County and graduated from Bishopville High School in 1981.
After graduation, Allen worked several jobs. The one he most enjoyed was working as a Mechanic, a trade he learned from his dad.
Allen was joined in marriage to Edna Moses Hooks.
Allen joined Saint Matthew Baptist Church, in Bethune, South Carolina, at an early age. He later joined Saint Matthew African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lynchburg, South Carolina, under theleadership of Reverend Donna Jackson. He was a part of the following ministries: Trustee Board, Usher Board, Pastor’s Aid, and the Vice President of the Sons of Allen A.M.E. Church Men In Ministry.
Allen was preceded in death by his father, Harry Hooks. Surviving to cherish his memories is his wife, Edna Hooks; a daughter, Alleshia both of the home; a son, Bracey Hooks of Miles City, Montana; his mother, Frances E. Robinson Hooks of Bishopville, South Carolina; two brothers, Eric Hooks, Sr. of Bishopville, South Carolina and Kevin Hooks of Charlotte, North Carolina; three sisters, Lisa M. Hooks of Bishopville, South Carolina, Vanessa (Associate Pastor Mark) Cox of Sanford, North Carolina, and Belinda (Timothy) Pickett of Camden, South Carolina; a very special sister-in-law, Sandra Jones of Timmonsville, South Carolina; two cousins that were like brothers, Anthony Nedd of Columbia, South Carolina and Gregory Robinson of Columbia, South Carolina; aspecial cousin, Valeria Roary of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a host of uncles; aunts; nephews; nieces; other close relatives; and friends.
