Private Graveside service for Mr. James Winthrop Brown Jr. will be conducted Saturday, May 23, 2020 in Riverside Cemetery, 200 Cotton Avenue, Albany, GA. Interment will follow directed by Elliott Funeral Home of Albany, GA.
Mr. James Winthrop Brown, Jr. 70, a native of Albany, GA was born on October 13, 1949, to the late James W. Brown, Sr. and Flossie Mae Ellison. He departed this life on Saturday, April 18, 2020 in Florence, SC.
James graduated with honors from Monroe High School in Albany, GA. He furthered his education at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, GA. and Georgia Southwestern University in Americus, GA.
James retired, in 2014, after 30 years of dedicated service from Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division in Atlanta, GA.
James was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, John Napoleon Brown.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Anita Brown of Bogart, GA; thirteen cousins, Julian Ellison, Jr. of Teaneck, NJ, Barbara Ellison Alexander, Marilyn Ellison Pounsel, Ronald Ellison, Johnny Ellison, and Njemil Ellison Ali all of Albany, GA, Rowena Ellison Baker (Lionel) of Columbus, GA , Pamela Russell Wiggs (Sherman), Tameka Russell Cruel (Lonnie), Richard Townsell Russell, Alfonso Miquel Russell, Seth Banee Carr, Amari Jayda Kokinacis all of Westminster, CA; and a host of special families and friends in Florence, SC; the Atlanta area, Adele; and Albany, GA.
Services are entrusted to Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC located in Florence, SC and Elliott Funeral Home located in Albany, GA.
