Funeral Service for Mr. Roy Goodson will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, February 5, 2021 at Bethel Apostolic Church, 1200 North Irby Street, Florence, South Carolina. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Mr. Roy Goodson, Jr. was born June 7, 1945 to the late Roy Goodson, Sr. and the late Margaret McNeil Goodson in Darlington, South Carolina. He transitioned from his earthly home on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina.

Roy Jr. as he was affectionally called relocated to Florence, South Carolina at an early age. He worked as a Brick Mason for 60 years and had a part in building many Historical sites in Florence.

On November 21, 1971, Roy was joined in holy matrimony to Selena Porter Goodson.

Roy Goodson, Jr. was a loving man who cared deeply for his family.

Roy Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and three sisters.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted and loving wife of 49 years, Selena Porter Goodson; two sons, Oscar James of New York and Frankie Goodson, Sr. of Florence, South Carolina; two daughters, Diane Robinson of Columbia, South Carolina and Connie (Rodney) Titus of Columbia, South Carolina; one brother, Elder James (Nancy) Goodson of Timmonsville, South Carolina; two sisters, Marjorie Garland of Florence, South Carolina and Juanita (Nathaniel) Joe of Florence, South Carolina; three brothers-in-law, Willie Porter, Thomas Johnson, and Frank Porter all of Florence, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Nathaleen ((Edward) Ingram of Florence, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Marcus, Mark, Kenya, Faith, Catlin, and Amorion; four great grandchildren; Naveah, Marquell, Bentley and Salia with whom he loved deeply; and a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Roy Goodson, Jr.’s family was his everything. He took care of his family with everything he had. He was a Great Man!!
