Reflections of The Life of Eula Lee Brown-Hill
EULA LEE BROWN-HILL was born January 6, 1929, the second child of seven children, to the late Nathaniel Wheeler and Addie Brown in Monticello (Lawrence County), Mississippi. At an early age, Eula accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Topeka, MS, under the leadership of Rev. J. Shorty. Eula’s mother, Addie died when she was three years old. Thereafter, she was raised by loving and devoted grandparents, Dan and Ellen Brown who were sharecroppers on their farm.
Eula met and married David Pittman in 1949 and they moved to Foxworth, MS. In 1952, they divorced, and she moved back to Topeka, MS. She met Lacy Hill and they were married after two months courtship on June 11, 1954. and remained married for 44 years.
In July 1968, Mrs. Hill began working as a Nurse's Aide at Floadrian Manor Nursing Home which had many different names (Heritage Manor, Columbia Health & Rehabilitation Center and Song’s Rehabilitation Center) and owners but she remained there throughout her career in Columbia, MS. In 1991, Eula studied and passed the test to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Eula greatest joy was the birth of her six children; Johnnie, Alene, Adrian, Billy, Lorean, Michael and dear stepson, Melvin Montgomery, who were the apples of her eyes. She loved all her children.
Eula as an adult had Christian experience and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Foxworth, MS, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. AD Gray. She remained a faithful member of Mt Zion until her health declined. However, her church family faithfully visited and administered communion until her death.
God sent his Angel to escort Mrs. Hill in her journey home on April 19, 2020.

One of my favorite memories were whenever she knew Ben and I was coming to visit her....that same day she would tell the other siblings about it. The extra special preparation would begin such as yard cleanup.....Michael mowed the lawn and Mom changed the linening on the bed in the guest room we slept and special attention to other tasks too place. ***Mom was so special to us.
