Obituary for Gene Expose`
Gene Expose` was born on June 2, 1941, in Columbia, Mississippi, to the late Paul and Ellen Expose`. He was the tenth of twelve children.
His Christian foundation began at an early age at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Expose, Mississippi. He attended this church his entire life and held the office of Trustee until his demise.
Gene was a passionate man devoted to his wife, Georgia, who preceded him in death of 56 years, his children, his extended family, and his community.
He proudly served his country as an honorable Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army.
Gene retired as a Bark Operator from Georgia Pacific’s woodyard in January 2005. Before joining the mill, he worked for Harrison Security as a guard at the mill and earlier for Pioneer Aero Dynamics, a parachute manufacturer in Columbia, Mississippi.
A hard worker by nature, Gene found joy in farming — raising cattle and pigs, planting crops, and baling hay. He was a strong provider whose generosity knew no limits. His family, both near and far, never went without as long as he was able to help. He put his children through college, purchased cars for his grandchildren, and was always ready to support his great-grandchildren. Gene would do anything for anyone in need.
He enjoyed reading, especially western novels by Louis L’Amour, and was truly a jack-of-all-trades — capable of fixing or building just about anything. His children lovingly called him “Gene the Genius”.
Gene departed this life on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
He leaves to cherish his memory three loving children: Connie Little, Harriott Expose`, and Jason Expose`; four grandchildren: Jasmine Ewing (Lee), Maria James (Isaih), Miyah Little, and Daniel Little; and seven great-grandchildren: Jaleeyah, Jada, Destynie, Jeremiah, Micah, Maci, and Ariyah. He is also survived by his goddaughter, Ashley Luethje, her brother Ryan Luetheje (Olivia) and their mother Brenda Luethje and; one sister, Beulah Peters.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Paul and Ellen Expose`; brothers Justice, Howard and Paul Expose`; and sisters Burstine Florence, Myrlene Terrell, Betty Gholar, Lucy Mills, Earthalene Rushing, Geraldine Norwood and Gail Thompson.
Gene will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud veteran, loyal friend, and a man whose work ethic and kindness touched everyone he met.
