Mrs. Hazel Catherine Myers
July 26, 1933~December 25, 2019 Age 86
Services for Mother Hazel C. Myers will be Saturday, January 4, 2020 at John the Baptist MB Church, 500 Lumberton Road, Columbia, MS at 12 Noon.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel during the hours of 2-6 pm.
Burial will be in the Rest Haven City Cemetery.
Mrs. Hazel Catherine Browns Myers made a grand entrance into this world on July 26, 1933 in Marion County, Columbia, Mississippi. She was the only child born to the late Charlie and Sally Martin Brown. Hazel attended school in Marion County at the Marion County Vocational School.
She met and married the love of her life the late Willie Thomas (W.T.) Myers, on August 20, 1950. She and W.T. as he was affectionally known had six children along with one grandchild that they adopted, and two grandchildren that they reared; one child Gregory Myers preceded them in death. She joined John the Baptist Church at an early age. Along with her family, they attended John the Baptist Church regularly. At John the Baptist, she was a faithful member until her health began to fail. At the time of her demise, she was the oldest Deaconess at John the Baptist. Hazel worked over forty years at the Pioneer Aerospace Corporation in Columbia, Mississippi. She was an easy-going person who was a friend to all. She loved her family and friends.
Hazel leaves to cherish her memory; Robert Charles, Darnell (Linda). Willie Jr. (Debra), Janice, Jeffery (Belinda), and Taveough all of Columbia, Mississippi Candice Myers of Metairie, Louisiana and Kim (David) McCrea of New Orleans, Louisiana; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Dorothy (Leslie) Peters of Columbia, Mississippi, and a host nieces, nephews, and cousins.
