Obituary For Gloria Jean Frye
Gloria Jean Frye, age 79, was called to her eternal rest on Saturday July 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Gloria was born December 13, 1946, in Danville, KY to the late James Edward Johnson Sr. and Opal Ford Johnson.
She was beautiful, glorious, elegant, virtuous, humble, a sweet soul who loved The Lord and if you met her you would know that you were in the presence of a lady; she was the definition. Gloria was a 1964 graduate of Bate High School and was a member of the band. Gloria was also a former graduate of School of Cosmetology in Paducah, KY. Additionally, she was a former employee of Matsushita and Christ The Head Daycare.
A woman of deep faith, Gloria accepted Christ at an early age where she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Faith Fellowship under the Pastorate of Rudy Henderson, where Gloria was a member of the praise team for many years.
Gloria loved her family, Turner Classic Movies, crossword puzzles and her Friday night dessert specials.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters April L. (Tim) Stallworth of Charleroi, PA, Felecia D. (Eric) Jones of Pickerington, OH, Jocelyn Frye (Aubrey); three sons, Bernard D. (Ernestine) Wallace of Madeira, Portugal, Issac D. Frye and Doyle O. Frye of Lexington, KY. Eighteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Three sisters, Vivian G. Troxler and Audrey M. Johnson of Danville, KY., and Bonita C. Johnson of Bowling Green, KY. Ten brothers, James E. Johnson Jr. and Rodney (Debbie) Johnson of Danville, KY., Timothy (Rose) Johnson, Donald C. (Tia) Johnson of Lexington, KY., Lonnie (Sandra) Johnson of Rock Hill, SC, Dwight W. (Roraima) Johnson of Ocala, FL., Darryl C. (Monica) Johnson of Poughkeepsie, NY., Tyrone Johnson of San Diego, CA, Ernie L. Johnson of KY. Finally, Gloria shared an especially close bond with her brother, Michael A. Johnson of Danville, KY, who remained by her side as her constant companion and best friend; also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by grandson Samuelle Aubrey
Funeral Service
The funeral will be held at 12 noon Friday, August 7, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 200 W. Walnut St., Danville, KY.
Visitation begins 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church.
Burial Hilldale Cementery, Danville, KY

I had the honor of serving Gloria as her health insurance agent for many years. She was a lady that was truly beautiful inside and out. She introduced me to so many wonderful people especially brothers and sisters. There was never a time that we met that we did not share our mutual hope in Jesus Christ. I will truly miss her but rest in the assurance that I will see her again.
