Obituary For Vernelle Tarrance

Courtesy notice

Vernelle Tarrance, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2024, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 79. Born in Danville, Kentucky, on August 29, 1944, to John Thomas and Amanda Loraine (Mayfield) Tarrance, he was a man whose life was founded on the values of family and faith.

After a fulfilling career that spanned more than 40 years, Vernelle retired from The Kroger Co. (the Siebenthaler location) as Head Meat Cutter. He began his career with Kroger during high school and worked at various locations throughout the City of Dayton before his retirement.

Vernelle was the beloved husband of Glenda Tarrance , his high school sweetheart and partner of 59 years. The love and life they shared together served as the base of the family. Together, they raised three children: Amy (Billy) Piner, Jean (Kenneth) Clements, and Derrick (Dwan) Tarrance, all of Dayton, Ohio. His legacy continues with his loving grandchildren: Jessica Tarrance, Billy Piner, Jr., RaSean Piner, DaQwan Piner, Kenneth Clements, Jr., Keith Clements, Joshua Thompson, Derrick Fields, Nia Tarrance, Kennedy Tarrance, and Kayly Tarrance; and his great-grandchildren: Noel Tarrance, Kendall Jones, Jordan Piner, Daelen Piner, Kenneth Clements III, Emory Clements, Nola Clements, Xela Fields and Liam. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his brother Guye Tarrance and sister-in-law Judy Tarrance. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Amanda Tarrance, and his brother Jerry Tarrance.

A true country boy at heart, he fondly embraced his small-town origins, which shaped his principles and strength of character. An enthusiast of the outdoors, he enjoyed every moment spent fishing at any pond or lake he could find. An aquarist in his own right, Vernelle enjoyed raising tropical fish and won awards for his angel fish.

Vernelle Tarrance's life was a journey marked by love, perseverance, and faith. He was a man who brought a bit of the country heart to the city, and in doing so, enriched the lives of those around him.

Interment: Saturday April 6, 2024, 12:00 pm Clifton Baptist Church Cemetery, Danville, KY
