Minister Jacqueline Monette Sellers-Chance (Jackie) went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2026. Jackie was born on July 31, 1952, to the late Arvell and Catherine McNeil Sellers.
She attended Anson County Schools and was one of the first selected black students to integrate Wadesboro High School on Camden Road.
After relocating to Greensboro, NC, Jackie earned her Certified Nurse Aide Certification and began working at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. After returning home to Wadesboro, she worked and retired from Novant Health in Matthews, NC. She also worked for Supreme Home Care in Wadesboro, NC.
Jackie was married to Virgil Chance who preceded her in death.
On September 25, 2005, Minister Jackie was ordained at Word of Faith Church in Morven, NC under Rev. Christopher Chance and Bishop Mack Mackampa.
Jackie was a humble, loving, God fearing woman, who would always say to her family, “Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing gonna be all right.”
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Valarie Tonnette Sellers, two brothers, Luther and Avery Sellers, her fur babies, Solomon and Judah.
Left to cherish are her grandchildren, Kendrick, Lynesha and Janae, great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Nova, her sisters, Doris (Lawrence) Watson of Conover, NC, Evelyn Sellers of Laurel Hill, NC and Carolyn (Toot) Gatewood of Wadesboro, NC, brother, Bobby (Dorothy) Sellers of Winterville, NC. She also leaves a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Services will be on Monday, January 12, 2026, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Word Of Faith Church Cemetery, Morven, North Carolina.
The family will greet family and friends on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 12:00-1:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel and at all other times at 1221 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina 28170.
The viewing will be on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 11:00am until the funeral hour.
