MR. AARON C. WILSON

Passed 09/08/2026

Obituary For MR. AARON C. WILSON

Mr. Aaron Clifton Wilson was born on February 24, 1941, in Marshville, North Carolina, to Helen Deese-Wilson and Clifton Manning Wilson. He later moved to Monroe, North Carolina, where he made his home and remained until his passing on September 8, 2026.

Aaron had a personality that was impossible to forget. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making people laugh. He was also a man who believed strongly in being on time. He would often remind the family, with his signature humor, that “we would be late to our own funerals.” Those words, once just another one of his familiar sayings, will now become a memory his family carries with them forever.

He loved to fish, and there was something special about seeing him enjoy the peace and patience that came with being by the water; especially with his son-in-laws. He also loved to cook and, perhaps even more, loved having his family around to enjoy a good meal together. Whether gathered around the table, sharing stories, laughing, or simply enjoying one another's company, those moments were precious to him.

Throughout his life, Aaron accomplished many things, but his greatest accomplishment was the family he created. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. His greatest joy was found in the people he loved and the family that surrounded him.

Aaron shared 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joyce Thomas-Wilson. Together, they built a family and a life filled with love, memories, and countless moments that will forever be cherished.

He leaves to cherish his memory his six children: Eddie Thomas, Aaron Wilson, Timothy Wilson, Lakesha Black (John), Pamelia Wilson-Black (Andre), and Barbara Wilson-Gray (Christopher); his twelve grandchildren: Tamla Wilson, Johnathan Black, Andre “TJ” Black, Jasmine Black, Jehon Black, Tyrone “Dante” Black Jr, Tiffany Black, Jacques Black, Tamara Black, Cameron Black, Tasia Black, and Kristyn Gray; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Emogene Ashcraft (James) and Elizabeth “Rusty” Wilson. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones, along with his very best friend, Roy B. Robinson.

Aaron was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Deese-Wilson; his father, Clifton Manning Wilson; and his sister and brother-in-law, Mabel Ruth Huntley and Joe Lee Huntley.

Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, the love he gave, the family he built, and the memories he created will continue to live on through every generation. His life was a testament to the lasting impact one person can have through the people they love.

Aaron Clifton Wilson leaves behind more than memories—he leaves behind a family, a legacy, and a love that will continue to carry his name forever.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever a part of us.

The Homegoing Services will be on Sunday, September 13, 2026, 2:30pm, Wingate Community Church Of God Founded By Jesus Christ, Inc., 5312 Monroe-Ansonville Road, Wingate, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Church Cemetery.

The Wilson Family will greet family and friends on Sunday, September 13, 2026 from 1:30-2:30pm at the Church and at all other times at the family residence.

The public viewing will be on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 1:00-5:00pm at Smith's Funeral Home.

Send flowers to the service of MR. AARON C. WILSON
