Antonio L. Baker, affectionately known as Tony, departed this life and gained his eternal reward on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the age of 43.
Born on January 5, 1983, to Stephanie Brace and Phillip Baker, Tony was a gentle and kind-hearted child. He spent his early years in the loving care of his grandparents, Elebie and Doretha Baker, who held a special place in his heart. As a child, Tony loved sports, playing soccer, baseball, and football, with baseball being his favorite.
Tony was educated in the Union County School system, where he also played football, before graduating from Forest Hills High School in 2002. He continued his education at Winston-Salem State University before discovering his passion for the open road.
Tony later obtained his Commercial Driverβs License (CDL) and built a career as a long-haul truck driver. He found great fulfillment in trucking and embraced the opportunity to travel across the country. Along the way, he developed a deep love for Texas, where he ultimately made his home.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Stephanie Brace; his maternal grandmother, Minister Rose A. Moore; and his paternal grandparents, Elebie and Doretha Baker.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his father, Phillip Baker of Charlotte, North Carolina; his step-grandfather, Johnny O. Moore of Monroe, North Carolina; his sisters, Shaniqua Moore of Rocky Mount, North Carolina and Courtney Baker of Concord, NC; his brothers Tory P. Baker of Washington State and Brandon Crowder of Wingate, NC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, April 11, 2026, 12:00pm, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Monroe, North Carolina. Interment will be private.
The Baker Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

π Tony, I'm lost for words. Your charisma, and the respect you had for me will truly be missed. You were a sweet and intelligent young man, and saw good in everyone, regardless. Your objective was to make your dad proud of you, and he was. π You traveled across the world, with no fear of anything or anyone. I will always hold you dear to my heart. Take your rest for now. Love you Tony! Praying for your family.ππ½ Jacqueline Cureton "The Actress On The Go"
