My Grandpa,
Where do I even begin?
There are no words that can express how deeply I love you or how much I appreciate all that you were to me. You've been one of the greatest blessings in my life — a man filled with wisdom, kindness, and stories that could light up a whole room. You somehow knew everyone in town, and every story you shared carried laughter and life lessons that I'll hold onto forever.
As you aged so gracefully, you always made me laugh when you couldn't quite remember my name — instead calling me your grandbaby or Gloria's boy. Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. That was your special way of reminding me who I belonged to.
My Grandpa never spanked me, never raised his voice, and never made me feel small. You led with love, patience, and quiet strength — the kind that teaches by example. You never judged me; instead, you showed me unconditional love, always telling me how proud you were every time I was in your presence.
And oh, I can't forget that watch — I can still hear your voice in my head: "Don't forget my watch, grandbaby!" You made sure I agreed to your terms, too. When we spoke over the phone just two weeks ago, even in your weak-toned voice, you didn't forget to remind me that I owed you a new watch — and of course, I agreed. Deep down, I could tell you knew your time was nearing.
Well, Grandpa, I hope you're enjoying the new watch that was placed on your wrist. I set the time to the exact moment you left us — a moment that marks when God welcomed you home. That watch now symbolizes time eternal — yours forever — just as you'll forever live in my heart.
You've taught me what it truly means to love, to laugh, and to live with purpose. Every time I look at my own watch, I'll think of you — knowing that even in heaven, you're still keeping time with me.
I love you, Grandpa. Rest in peace, and thank you for every beautiful memory.
Love always, Your Grandbaby, Gloria's Boy, Mandale "Dale" Wall
