I can't believe you are gone. I just saw you last week at Judds When you told me about retirement And reasons. Scotty, you were the sweetest man I mean, we loved candy, Even when we weren't supposed to, didn't we. But, you were also the kindest man Ready to listen to any old odd complaint At school, in the hall, when you were busy. But, you were also the gentlest man You were a gentleman to everyone Calm, steady, dependable. An example to those who would look And an example for those who needed to see. I'm filled with love and respect for you. I will look forward to seeing you When we meet again Maybe in a place like Judds.

Laura Cudmore

(In a vibrant voice) "JEAN!" That's what I would always hear, followed by the biggest smile and a warm hug when I saw Scotty. Always cheerful, always helpful and such a bright ray of light. It was a treat being in his presence. Everyone at MRMS adored him as he made everyone feel special. I loved seeing him at my daughter's basketball games and bringing him cold Gatorade drinks when he directed traffic during carpool. Although he is missed earth side, we know heaven gained an Angel. Sending my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

My memories of Scotty were many and I am proud to say he was my friend. He was the last employee I hired with the City of Monroe. Being a USMC vet, I knew the man's dedication to his word and job. He was as steady as the hands of time. I will think of him a lot when passing through Monroe. God has a new guard for the Pearly Gates.

Sending our thoughts and prayers to Cousin Timothy and Family.

May God give you the strength you need during this difficult time!

Sgt.Little as I always referred to him was the bright light at the intersection of Crane Rd and the Marvin Ridge Middle School entrance. He used to watch our Marvin Ridge Color Guard groups practice in the middle school gym. He remembered all the performer's names and years later when I would drive by the entrance where he was working he would salute and always ask me to say hello to Ava! I marveled that he remembered us and Ava so many years later and I know he knew hundreds of kids in the area. He also was always eager to help us with marching band duties and he would eat dinner with us when we served the band on Friday nights before home football games. Sgt. Little's absence will be sorely missed at that intersection but I will think of him every time I pass it for the rest of my life. The Cortelli family was blessed to have our paths cross with his and we thank the Little family for sharing him with us and Union County.

Matthew Cortelli

Scotty was one of my favorite people that I meet in the last several years. Scotty exemplified the love of God and Jesus effortlessly. He showed compassion like no other. Cared deeply for everyone he knew. One of the most humble and gracious men to ever walk this earth! I'm truly heartbroken over this loss. Having the privilege to cross Scotty's path forever change mine. I'll never forget him and the impact he had on my life, as he did so many others. I'm truly going to miss him so much. I pray God nurtures his family, his two daughters, and all of his close friends during this difficult time. May he rest in sweet, eternal peaceπŸ•ŠοΈ

I worked with Scotty for several years and always enjoyed his company. He always greeted me with a warm hello and wide smile. I never heard anyone say a bad word about Scotty, as he was really such an awesome person. I am going to miss you, Scotty. Actually, we are all going to miss you. Rest easy, my friend.

Every time I walked into the gym and saw Mr. Scotty he would say "hey Jake!" with the biggest smile on his face. I never saw him in a bad mood once over years of seeing each other at school. He was the most positive, uplifting person and he always found a way to make me laugh no matter how my day was going. Sending love and prayers to his family.❀️

Sending sincere condolences to the Little family. I met Scotty about 30 yrs ago. I would often run into him at Food Lion. We had long conversations about life and family. He loved his daughters dearly. He was always a very pleasant gentleman with a contagious smile. He never failed to ask how my son was doing and that he was very proud of him. Scotty take your rest. You are in God's hands now!πŸ™πŸΎ

Sylvia Jordan

Our kids fell in love with Mr Scotty at MRMS before we ever had the chance to meet him. They would come home and tell stories of his kindness and their affection for him. Finally we got to meet him at a school event and it was easy to see why they had become such Mr Scotty fans! He felt like part of our family following each of our 4 kids through middle and high school and even beyond through their college careers. His smile was big and contagious but his heart was way bigger and had room for everyone. Our whole family feels his loss and we are sending so much love to his family and friends. His legacy of love and kindness will never be forgotten. Shannon, Jason, Maggie, Jake, Molly and Jilly Young

The Young Family

To the Little and surrounding Family's, my sincere condolences to you allπŸ™πŸ½ To my friend, Scotty Little β€” "Heaven couldn't wait." I'm still searching for the right words because your absence will be felt deeply. I find comfort in knowing that God makes no mistakes.

Tim would often say, "Scotty asked about you," or "Scotty said hello." I am truly blessed to have known such a remarkable man. It would take a lifetime to describe who you were, so I'll simply share Galatians 5:22–23, which reflects the life you lived.

Your passing has left a hole in my heart, but I know you're finally at rest. Your work here is done. I'll say "goodbye for now, my brother in love and friend, until we meet again."β€οΈπŸ™πŸ½β€οΈ

It's rare to find people in this world that always smile, find the positivity out of every situation, and genuinely care for those around them selflessly. Scotty was one of those rare people. Everyday we would come to work and I knew when I saw him we would both smile at each other, ask about our families, and do anything to help one another. He made coming to work easy everyday! Scotty, may you rest in peace and I hope to see you again one day so we can smile at one another and catch up! You will be forever missed and loved! GO REDSKINS!

Matt S.

If you drove your kids to MRMS or MRHS, you knew Mr. Scotty. But what's unbelievable is Mr. Scotty knew you, your child, and your schedule. How can one person remember so many? In addition to his lead position where his work ethic set a perfect example for middle schoolers, he brightened every day with his expert execution managing car line while also managing smiles, waves, blinking headlights if you were early, and tapping his wrist if you came at a different time letting you know he knew you weren't usually there then. We were so lucky to have been in his company for all of middle school, and part of high school. We miss him dearly.

May Mr. Scotty's family find comfort that this Earth Angel was called Home,

It was a pleasure to work with Scotty @ The City Of Monroe, Waste Water Treatment Plant. He loved his two girls dearly and his family. Scotty will be missed, but God.. Family you have my Deepest Condolences and Prayers.

I first met Scotty in 2014. From that time on I never saw him without a smile on his face. Everytime I saw him he asked about my family, calling my girls by name. I adored my time talking with him, and will miss his smile and hugs. I will never forget how amazing he was. Marvin Ridge Middle School will never be the same without him. Heaven gained an amazing man.

Jo Meewes

Scotty was exactly the same every time you saw him. If he knew you he never failed to speak. I worked with him back in the 90's at Anson Correctional. I always told him he was too kind for that line of work! Family, Scotty will not be forgotten because he touched so many lives in a positive way! God bless and carry you until you reunite with Scotty in heaven again someday.

Wanda Howard

Scotty was as fine a man as I have ever known. I worked with him a number of years and it was a pleasure calling him a co-worker, but it was even better calling him a friend! He was ALWAYS more concerned about other people than he was himself! I will see you again in heaven, My Friend! Praying for Tim and all the family!

Derek James

Scotty was one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. The positive impact he had on my family will always be remembered. We loved Scotty so much. I pray for your peace and comfort. Scotty was an amazing man with an amazing legacy and I pray he rests safe in the arms of our Lord. Semper Fi ❀️

Scotty, You meant so much to myself and the staff at Marvin Ridge Middle School. It was a honor to have known you. You were such a positive human being who could light up any room. God bless you! God got an angel in you! Rest in peace my friend!

Jim Reese

Mr. Scotty was one of my very first encounters when my daughter started at Marvin Ridge Middle School, and I have never forgotten it.

I couldn't get into the building that evening, and he warmly let me in. But it wasn't just the gesture, but his kindness, reassurance, and the way he made me feel in that moment. I was an anxious mom sending my daughter off to middle school, unsure of what this new chapter would bring.

I still remember him saying something to the effect of, "Mom, come on in. Everything's going to be okay."

And somehow, in that moment, I believed him. I felt calmer. Seen. Reassured.

I don't think Mr. Scotty ever realized how much that brief interaction stayed with me or how often I carried that warmth and reassurance with me through anxious moments during the middle school years.

That was the kind of person he was. Kind. Grounding. Caring. The kind of person who made people feel safe without even realizing the impact he had.

He will truly be remembered. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

With Sympathy, Chudney Drew

With deep sorrow we say goodbye to Mr. Scotty, who was my boss at Marvin Ridge school.

During my hardest diagnosis, he was an angel of God to me. Always compassionate, he helped me so I could attend my medical treatments and when I arrived at work with symptoms, he would let me use his office to rest. He encouraged me to keep going and to trust in God. Thanks to his humanity, I was able to receive my treatment and continue working. He was a sociable, respectful man with a huge heart. I will always remember him as a good man and an exceptional boss. May God have him in His glory and give comfort to his family. Rest in peace.

My heart aches to know that I will never again be in the presence of Scotty Little on this side of Heaven. From the time that I met him in 2013, Scotty always struck me as the kind of person that we should all strive be...considerate, kind, hardworking, helpful, and responsible. I am so very grateful for the way that Scotty showed genuine interest in the life of my family. There was never a time that he didn't ask me about how my wife, children, and parents were doing, and he truly listened when I gave him the most recent reports. Scotty Little is the embodiment of a life well lived. I send my sincere condolences to his family and loved ones, and I pray that they find comfort in their loving memories of him. RIP, my friend. I will miss you.

The most kind hearted, generous of smile and spirit, and genuine humans to walk this earth. I'd like to think that every day was made better because of his heart and laugh and smile. He led with grace and civility. He sprinkled happiness wherever he went. Our children were fortune to have him in their presence and every chance to see him in carline made my day. He gracious left his spirit in each of us and I will be forever grateful for his positivity and joy that he shared with each and every one of us. We are all better people because of Mr. Scotty.

Mr. Scotty...I'm heartbroken that he's gone but thankful that he's not suffering.

He's one in a million! For 5 years I saw him almost daily. As a volunteer, I was at the school just about every day and he was a highlight in my day. He was an amazing role model for not only my kids but ALL the kids at the school for years. He was the master at directing car rider traffic, hard working, respectful, kind, caring and just an angel on earth. He had a presence about him that you respected and so did the kids.

His loss leaves a HUGE hole for the Marvin Ridge community. His smile glowed! His can do attitude was contagious. His support for everything with the kids and the school was unwavering.

He came to my son's Eagle Scout ceremony and he was SO supportive. My son helped Mr. Scotty every chance he got without being asked. They had a fantastic connection. Now we are looking at graduation right around the corner and I'm sad not to have him in the stands bc all these kids are HIS kids! HE WAS AN ANGEL on earth. He has earned those wings! God bless. Thank you for your service to our country and to our school and community.

May your family feel comfort in the stories of all of his greatness.

I doubt I will ever find a more thoughtful, gentle, hardworking, caring soul. Semper Fi my friend!

I am heartbroken to hear of Scotty's passing. I had the privilege of knowing him as a coworker at Marvin Ridge Middle School, and I can honestly say he was one of the hardest working people I have ever met. No matter the situation, he always showed up ready to help, going above and beyond for anyone who needed him. What I will remember most is his smile β€” he had one for everyone. His kindness, dedication, and steady presence made such an impact on the people around him. He carried himself with the strength and selflessness of a Marine, and those qualities shined through in the way he lived his life every day. He was taken far too soon, and his absence will be deeply felt by so many. I am grateful to have known him and to have worked alongside him for years. Our school community will never quite be the same without him on the Marvin campus.

Tim, Scotty's brother, was married to my daughter, Sylvia, for many, years. To know the Little family is to love their kind hearts, gentle spirits, devotion to family and friends, and quiet strength of character. My daughter, Sylvia, transitioned almost six years after a lengthy illness. Scotty was one of her best friends, and she loved Scotty because he was truly a faithful friend who showered her kindness and patience. He supported her through the ups and downs of her chronic illness. He patiently listened to her and treated her with great understanding and compassion. Scotty was a true gentleman! Sylvia was unable to do many physical things due to her health challenges. Over time, many friends went their separate ways. Scotty never forgot Sylvia and when she was able to travel with Tim to be with the Little family, she was so happy because the whole family showered her with love and celebrated her as a wife, mother, and valued member of their family! Sylvia loved being Tim's wife and Wesley's mother. Still, if you knew Sylvia, you would also know that Scotty's friendship enriched her life abundantly, and she loved him dearly as her friend and brother-in-love.

I am deeply appreciative for the friendship Scotty gave my daughter for so many years! I know Sylvia and Scotty are continuing their special bond in heaven.

May God strengthen the family and friends of James " Scotty" Little:

"May flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest."
