Gone from our sight but never from our memories. Gone from our touch, but never from our hearts. Mr. Jesse William Covington transitioned to eternal rest on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Albemarle, NC.
Jesse was born on November 24, 1943, in Anson County, North Carolina to the late Ray Covington and Bessie Medley Covington. He attended the public schools of Anson County. At an early age he joined Cedar Hill AME Zion Church, Ansonville, NC. He remained a faithful member until he moved to Albemarle, NC. After moving, he attended Saint Delight Holiness Church.
Jesse was a self-employed entrepreneur and a jack of all trades. He loved attending drag racing events with his son “Tony” and was his biggest fan. Jesse was a flashy dresser and always adorned a hat with his ensemble. He loved big Cadillac’s with white wall tires and gold spoke rims. He epitomized the 70's.
He leaves to cherish his memories eight (8) children: Anthony (Tony) Covington, Fort Washington, MD, a devoted daughter Trenna Covington, Clinton, MD, Monica (Derek) Cradle, Brooklyn, NY, Erica (Rene’) Farrow, New York, NY, Avis (Ricky) Freeman, Bunker Hill, WV, Carolyn Griffin, Burnsville, NC, Keisha and Jesse (Charlotte. NC).
Eleven (11) grandchildren: Tremayne and Trevor Foskey, Anthony Jr (TJ) and Ray Covington, Sydney and Logan Cradle, Ryan and Gavin Farrow, Anthony, Tenisha and Jermaine Griffin. Also he was blessed with twenty-eight (28) great-grandchildren, eight (8) great-great grandchildren and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Jesse was preceded in death by one (1) son, Jesse B. Covington and his dearly beloved parents Ray Covington and Bessie Medley Covington.
