MR. JORDAN MALIK STATON was born on June 29, 2004, in Richmond County, North Carolina, to Ms. Kim Staton. Hearing the Masterโs call, he entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, surrounded by family and friends.
Jordan lived in Wadesboro with his Mother and extended family, Khaliha Staton, Khasiah & Wyzae Martin. He spent a lot of time in the Burnsville Community with his Papa and Grandma, Bernard and Frances Staton, and his great grandmother, Mary Ann Staton.
Jordan graduated from Anson High School in 2022, and was attending Winston-Salem State University majoring in Psychology. At the time of his medical emergency, he was practicing with the Epiphany Modeling Troop and collapsed. The Medical Team declared his condition as HCM.
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a disease in which the heart muscle becomes thickened (hypertrophied). The thickened heart muscle can make it harder for the heart to pump blood. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy often goes undiagnosed because many people with the disease have few, if any, symptoms.
Jordanโs memories will be forever cherished by:
Mother: Kim (Khaliha) Staton
Grandparents: Bernard and Frances Staton and Selena Adams
Great grandparents: Mary Ann Staton, Carolyn Deese Allen, and Harry Liles
Aunts: Tamika Brown, Shunda Brown, Jennifer Bowman, and Timika Funderburke;
Uncles: Andre Ross (Amy), Marquie Walker, and Delvin Hicklen
