Joseph Leon Hall, better known as “Buckwheat/Joe Dogg,” son of Joseph Hall and the late Dura Mae Sturdivant Hall, was born November 15, 1967, in Lanesboro, North Carolina. He restfully lamented this life on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at home in Wingate, North Carolina.
He accepted Christ at an early age. Joseph was a very spiritual individual and shared it with those he loved. Joseph worked for Tyson Foods of Monroe, North Carolina, for ten years, prior to working for Wingate College “Wingate University” for five years in Wingate, North Carolina.
Joseph is preceded in death by his mother, Dura Mae Sturdivant Hall.
In his life remembrance, Joesph’s memories will be flourished by his father, Jospeh Hall of Wingate, North Carolina; three children, Malik Howard, Jon’Nora Hall, Ty’Asya Hall and Terrell Robinson all of Wadesboro, North Carolina; four brothers, Willie Hall, Corey Hall, Christopher Hall all of Wadesboro, North Carolina and Damian Hall-Wasingyerbyrd (Oliver) of Miami, Florida; four uncles, Pastor Harford Sturdivant, Morris Sturdivant both of Wadesboro, North Carolina, Melvin Sturdivant of Peachland, North Carolina and Jimmy Sturdivant of Wingate, North Carolina; five aunts, Dr. Mary Ruth Burns (Louis) of Peachland, North Carolina, Katherine Sturdivant, Judy Sturdivant both of Monroe, North Carolina, Millie Sturdivant of Wingate, North Carolina and Terry Miller (Robert) of Charlotte, North Carolina. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The Homegoing Services will be on Friday, March 7, 2025, 3:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the family plot of Williams Cemetery, Polkton, North Carolina.
The Hall Family will greet family and friends on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 2:30-3:00pm and at all other times at the residence in Marshville, NC.
The public viewing will be on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 3:00-5:30pm.

Joseph is my nephew whom I loved, and he always gave me a hug and kiss except the day before he left us. He always stayed happy, and loved his family and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Wd called him Buckwheat and the guys called him Joe Dogg.
