Mr. Leroy Kirby was born April 22, 1947, to the late Willie Lee Kirby and Leola Little Kirby. He departed this life on July 16, 2023, at Atrium Health Union, Monroe, NC.
Leroy joined Rocky Mount AME Zion Church, Ansonville, NC at an early age, where he was active in the Little Singers, Usher Board and the Rocky Mount choir.
Leroy was diagnosed with TD (Tardive Dyskinesia), but he never was discouraged or complained. Despite his disability, he was able to attend the Anson County School system and also worked at Young Manufacturing Company.
He enjoyed his independence throughout his life. Leroy loved to clean and fix things around the house. He enjoyed watching and rooting on his favorite basketball team, the Golden State Warriors.
Leroy was a devoted and loving son to his mother, Leola Kirby who preceded him in death. His father, Willie Kirby also preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories, a host of relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Services will be on Monday, July 24, 2023, 2:00pm, Rocky Mount AME Zion Church, Ansonville, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Church Cemetery.
The Kirby Family will greet family and friends on Monday, July 24, 2023 from 1:30-2:00pm at Rocky Mount AME Zion Church, Ansonville, North Carolina.
The public viewing for Mr. Kirby will be on Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 2:00-4:00pm at Smith Funeral Home.
