Rico Desean Sturdivant, son of Mary E. Sturdivant Lillie and the late Johnny Parsons was born in Wadesboro, NC on August 17, 1974. He departed this life on January 6, 2025 at CMC-Main in Charlotte, NC.
Rico attended the public schools of Anson County and was a 1992 Graduate of Anson Senior High School. Rico was very humble and loved by many.
Rico confessed Christ at an early age. In his earlier years, he attended Gatewood Station AME Zion Church. He was previously employed by Triangle Brick in Wadesboro, NC for a number of years.
Rico loved playing cards, golf, listening to music, and being around family & friends. He enjoyed helping others as well assisting with special projects for family, friends, and other community members.
Rico was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Parsons; maternal grandparents, Dexter and Mary E. Sturdivant; paternal grandmother, Rosa Mae Parsons; brother, Kenny Sturdivant; uncle, James Thomas Parsons; and nephew, Masson Sanderson.
Left to forever cherish Rico's smile and spirit is his mother, Mary Sturdivant Lillie; his daughters, Megan Sturdivant (Bronx, NY), Shardonay Ford (Bronx, NY), and Layla Boone of Wadesboro; his grandson, Avion Chester (Bronx, NY); his sisters, Raven (Michael) Tillman, Claudia Lillie (Victor), Megan (Burnic) Ratliff; his brother, Terrence Horn; his aunts, Susan (Callie) Little and Rose (Charles) Grace; his uncles, Roger Sturdivant, Vernon (Delores) Sturdivant, Gregory Sturdivant, Eric (Lisa) Sturdivant, Allen (Angela) Sturdivant, Darryl (Robin) Sturdivant, Jeffery (Tara) Sturdivant, Reverend Alexander (Thelma) Parsons, Robert (Rita) Parsons, and Joe (Sue) Parsons; his "Fantastic Four" cousins raised as his siblings, Keetra Sturdivant, Felicia Smith, Mickey Smith & Rickey Smith; his nieces and nephews, Shamuel, Mahagany, Shalik, Eric Jr., Dezirae, Maliyah, Matheus, Shaheim, Amari, Kadence, and Dashunna; his great-nephew, Koda; his homies, Demond Lindsey, Tony Willoughby, Artreal Bennett, Vernon Bennett, Kim Bennett, Lamont Bennett, Mark Rorie, Clarence Taylor, Bobby Pratt, Dale Pickett, Steve Cox, James Leak, Odessa Cox, Sally Lolecia Collins, Sheila Dumas, Stephanie Miller, Shanta Baucom, Timothy Alexander, and so many more along with a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
The Services will be on Sunday, January 12, 2025, 2:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
The Sturdivant Family will greet family and friends on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 1:30-2:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel and at all other times at the family residence, 970 Brown Creek Church Road, Wadesboro,NC and at the residence of the aunt, Susan Little, 913 West Carolina Avenue, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
In lieu of floral arrangements, the family asks that donations be made for Rico's funeral expenses.
