Mr. Robert Gene Wall, son of the late James (Gene) Wall and Josephine Ingram Wall was born September 30, 1943 in Lilesville, NC. He departed from this life on Saturday morning, November 5, 2022 at his home in Wadesboro, NC.
Robert Gene was a loving, dedicated and loyal servant of Savannah AME Zion Church. From a young man from down on the river at the Old Savannah to the new establishment on Firetower Road, Robert Gene served faithfully until his health declined. He served on the Trustee and Steward Boards and in capacity of the church, as needed.
Robert Gene was employed at Yale Norton, Monroe, NC in the early 1970’s and was a faithful employee of Southern Fabricators, Inc. for more than 25 years. He also worked at Cuddy Foods, Marshville, NC until his health declined causing him to retire.
He attended the public schools of Anson County.
Robert Gene was a devoted husband and father who always put Almighty God first, his beliefs and his family. He loved to fellowship with his family and friends. He had a joy for cooking and making his wonderful “sweet potato pies” especially during the holidays.
On June 30, 1963, Robert was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Virginia Horne Wall. Through their 59-year union, three children were born: one son, Minister Robert Kenneth Wall, Sr. (Remona) and two daughters, Ronnette Levon Wall Johnson (Jerry Sr.) and Belinda Denise Wall. He also leaves to cherish eight grandchildren: Melody (Cadera) Sewell, Monique (Darius) Lotharp, Robert K. Wall II, Jerry (Lela) Johnson Jr., Amani Wall, Brianna Wall, Cameron Wall and Adriann Wall; ten great grandchildren: Jayla, Zyla, Ta’Jari, Cadera Jr., TayQuan, Zyhmere, Raylynn, Aabrie, Aaliyah, and Jace; a special niece and four nephews whom he considered as grandchildren; one brother, Joe Edward Wall (Eloise) of Wadesboro, NC; two sisters, Betty Elizabeth White of Harrisburg, PA and Pearline Miller of High Point, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves his cousin and best friend, Pastor Rob Ingram and close friend, Dan Taylor (Uncle Dan).
The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, November 12, 2022, 1:00pm in the Chapel of Smith's Funeral Home, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74-West, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
The Wall Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 12:30-1:00pm in the Chapel of Smith's Funeral Home, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
The public viewing will be on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 3:00-5:30pm at Smith Funeral Home.
