Mr. Ronalt James Gainey, affectionately known as “Ronnie” was born on May 20, 1958 to the late Edith M. Gainey and James Biles Jr. He was raised by his grandparents, the late James Hubert Gainey and Viola Hardison Gainey. Ronnie transitioned to eternal rest on April 21, 2026 at Atrium Health-Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, North Carolina.
From a young age, Ronnie embraced his faith, becoming an active member of Kesler Chapel AME Zion Church. There, he participated in Sunday School, Junior Church, Bible School and the Junior Choir under the leadership of the late Mrs. Bernice Gilbert.
Ronnie employment journey included working at Wansona, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Schultz Mobile Homes, Anson Correctional Facility, and a part-time position at Premiere Fibers until health challenges arose. His work ethic and dedication were evident throughout his career, earning him respect and admiration from colleagues and friends.
On June 29, 1986, Ronnie was united in Holy Matrimony to his true love, Miss Teresa Lynn Burns, who preceded him in death on May 27, 2024. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership. They are together again in the embrace of the heavens.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Hope E. Jackson of Maryland and Dawn A. Baker of Wadesboro, NC; one brother, Terryl H. Harris of Kings Mountain, NC; two aunts, Peggy Gainey Simon and Nancy Gainey; two uncles, Rufus Gainey and Haywood Simon Jr.; five brothers-in-law, Tommy Joe Burns of Ansonville, NC, Johnny Burns of Polkton, NC, Terrell (Kendra) Burns of Morven, NC, Pondra (Angel) of Polkton, NC and Dwight (Takela) of Rock Hill, SC. Ronnie also leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Ronnie’s spirit will live on through the many lives he touched with his kindness, laughter, and unwavering spirit. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
The Homegoing Services will be on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, 2:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be at the New Hope Christian Faith Church Cemetery, Ansonville, North Carolina.

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Ronnie as the husband of Teresa. She truly loved that man. He will be greatly missed. I'm sure he and Teresa are happy again rejoicing in the Lord. Prayers for all.

Ronnie was my childhood neighbor on Maine Street, and I will always cherish the fun and memories we shared growing up together. Those early years meant so much, and his presence was truly a gift.
