Obituary For MR. VICKEY ANDREWS MCAULEY

Vickey Andrews McAuley, son of Mrs. Kay McCauley McLaurin and the late Vivian Reynolds was born on October 26, 1958 in Troy, NC. He peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 after a period of declining health at the White Oak Manor in Charlotte, NC.

As a child, he was lovingly raised by his great-grandparents, the late Carl and Mishie McAuley. “Vick”, as he was called by everyone, was educated in the public schools of Montgomery County. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1975 and proudly served his country for 4 years before receiving an honorable discharge. It was in the service that he earned his GED.

After returning from the Army, Vick spent most of his adult years living in Charlotte until returning home to Mt. Gilead. Upon returning, he joined St. Luke Church of God, under the leadership of Elder Eric Smalley.

Vick was a jack-of-all-trades but was well known for his ability to work on cars. He will be remembered as the ‘Neighborhood Mechanic’. Even after having a leg amputated, he could always be found under the hood of a car. He never let his disability stop him from doing anything!

Vick was preceded in death by his father, Vivian Reynolds; stepfather, Rev. George McLaurin; grandson, Eliel McAuley; grandparents, John L. and Maerece Morrison and Viola McAuley; great-grandparents, Carl and Mishie McAuley; and one aunt, Margaret Smith.

Those left to cherish loving and fond memories are: his children, Xana McAuley (Lori Bain) of Laurinburg and Tremayne Gibson of Charlotte; one grandson of Charlotte; mother, Mrs. Kay McLaurin of Mt. Gilead; siblings, Shea McLaurin (Kimberly) of High Point, NC and Latonya McLaurin (Derek Fulp) of Mt. Gilead; nieces, Tahjnia, Ayauna, and Paris; nephews, Lewis, CaJovis, JaVonny, Abija, and Azior; great-nephew, Messiah; great-niece, Amora; special friend, Theo Howard of Ohio; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other friends.

The Services to Celebrate his life will be on Sunday, December 7, 2025, 3:00pm, St. Luke Church Of God, 542 Parkertown Road, Mount Gilead, North Carolina. The interment will be on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, 11:00am, Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, North Carolina.
