Elizabeth Cole Streater Bennett, 72, daughter of the late Oscar Junior Streater and Florie Mae Cole Streater was born June 11, 1953 in Anson County. She departed this life on December 1, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents and also James “Pete” Little and Dorothy “Dot” Mae Little who provided her a home filled with love and support where she grew up. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Moses Cole and Henry Cole and one sister, Nancy Joe Streater.
Elizabeth was educated at J.R. Faison School and later obtained her GED. She worked at Northeast Hospital in Concord, NC as a CNA before joining the Phlebotomy Team. She worked as a Phlebotomist for 23 years until she retired.
She married Conel Bennett on September 10, 1972. He was the love of her life; her best friend and they were a loving couple for 53 years.
Elizabeth was affectionately known as “Cole” and “Libbut” to many. She enjoyed shopping, fishing, dancing, watching westerns, football and soap operas, which she called “her stories.” She was passionate about fashion and took pride in dressing nice. At each event, she would be “Dressed To The Nine!”
She was a faithful member of United Baptist Church in Kannapolis, NC. She and her husband, Conel were active members for more than 40 years. She was loving, compassionate, caring and a generous giver. She loved people and was a loving friend to many. Some for over 50 years, like her best friend, Lou Jean Chapman of Kannapolis, NC.
She leaves to cherish the memories of her life, her husband, Conel Bennett; son, Marquis Bennett (Crystal); one stepson, Anthony Crowder (Yolanda); one stepdaughter, Katrina Allbrooks (Vernon); nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter; five brothers, Lee Jr. Streater, David Thomas Streater, Richard (Kenny) Streater, Oscar Ray Streater and Charley Montgomery (Mary) all of Wadesboro, NC; five sisters, Rosa Brannon of Charlotte, NC, Barbara Jean William of Wadesboro, NC, Annie Ruth Rorie of Polkton, NC, Mary Brown (William) of Thomasville, NC and Marcella Broadway (Harvey) of Polkton, NC; one sister-in-law, Arlania Wall of Wadesboro, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, December 13, 2025, 1:00pm, in the chapel of Smith’s Funeral Home, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow the service at Westview Memorial Park, Polkton, North Carolina.
