Mrs. Emma Jean Phillips McNeil, daughter of the late Cleveland and Alice Phillips was born September 28, 1949 and lived in the vicinity of Wadesboro. She passed away peacefully at Richmond County Hospice.
She joined the Cedar Creek Baptist Church and attended faithfully until her health declined. She was employed at West Knitting until it closed. She also worked at Noah’s Ark Child Care Center.
She loved the Lord, Family, her Pastor and the Church family.
On April 1, 1967 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Henry Lee McNeil Sr. who preceded her in death. To this union, two children were born.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two children, Henry (Leslie) McNeil Jr. and Lamont (Cheree) McNeil both of Wadesboro, NC; three grandchildren, Haley (Maurice) Copeland, Jarvis and Jerrell McNeil; three great grands, Kayden and Dakota Copeland and Kash McNeil; six sisters, Lily Thomas, Madgie (William) Little, Alice (Fulton) Lowery, Doris (Vernard) Marshall, Rev. Berdie (George) Ingram and Minister Brownette (Lewis) Moore; adopted sister, Lucille (Lee Thomas) Little; three brothers, Cleveland (Angela) Phillips Jr., Rev. McKinley (Margaret) Phillips and K. Preston Phillips of Gastonia, NC. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Six sisters-in-law, Mamie (Rev. Freddie) Little, Kathy Diane McNeil, Eva Robinson, Delores Sturdivant, Sarah Melton and Corine Melton; two brothers-in-law, Chester (Mamie) McNeil and Kenneth McNeil. One brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law preceded her in death. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her very best friends were her two children, Henry Jr. and Lamont McNeil.
The Homegoing Services will be on Friday, April 7, 2023, 1:00pm, Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 1293 Cedar Creek Road, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Church Cemetery.
The McNeil Family will greet family and friends on Friday, April 7, 2023 from 12:30-1:00pm at Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
The public viewing will be on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 3:30-5:30pm at Smith's Funeral Home.
