Mrs. Freddie Mae Singleton Bennett, the daughter of the late Freddie Singleton and Eva Solomon Singleton, was born on December 30, 1950, in Florence, South Carolina. She peacefully transitioned from this life on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Atrium Health Pineville Hospital in Pineville, North Carolina.
Freddie Mae, as she was affectionately called, dedicated her life to serving others, bringing joy and purpose to those around her.
A talented seamstress, she retired from Anson Shirt Company after many years of dedicated service. Her commitment to her community shone through her work with the nonprofit organization, "The Friends of Old Westview Cemetery," where she was instrumental in the cemeteryβs restoration. Her love for genealogy connected her to her roots, enriching her life and the lives of her family.
She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. She was a devoted and cherished member of Thomas Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Lilesville, NC where she served faithfully until her health declined.
On August 5, 1972, she was united in marriage to Mr. Albert Paul Bennett Sr. and together they welcomed two children: Latrice and Albert Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Eva Singleton; step-mother, Ada Ford Singleton; husband, Albert Paul Bennett Sr.; step-mother, Mrs. Ada Huntley Ford Singleton; brothers, Freddie Singleton, Jr. and Rev. Charles Ford, Sr. and mother-in-law, Alberta Bennett Ratliff leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Her spirit continues to live on through her children, Latrice Lyons (Minister Antoine) and Pastor Albert Bennett Jr. (Co-Pastor Mary); her grandchildren: Jasmine Palmer (Greg), Casandra Bennett, Savannah Bennett, Albert Bennett, Albertina Bennett, Mariah Lyons, and Marco Lyons; her great grandchildren, Camryn Bennett, Amriah Bennett, and Amir Bennett; four sisters, Mary (Barnett) Craft of Washington, DC; Joanne (Ulysses) Price of Hephzibah, GA; Evelyn Brown of Columbus, SC and Sandra Singleton of Washington, DC; an adopted sister, Minister Angela Rorie of Morven, NC; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Gail Ratliff and Carol Ford; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her.
The services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Bennett were held on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
