Kristy McIver Gordon was born on August 21, 1979 in Wadesboro, NC to the late William Thomas McIver Sr. and Joyce McLendon McIver Mainor.
Kristy graduated from Bowman Senior High School in 1997. She attended the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Minor in Psychology. While attending UNCC, Kristy crossed over into Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. Kristy went on to further her education and received her MBA from Strayer University. Kristy was a Forex Trader/Investor, Certified Health/Financial Coach, Singer, Motivational Speaker and Insurance Broker.
Kristy was united in Holy Matrimony to Harrison Gordon Jr. They were together 10 years until the Lord called her home on Jan 5th, 2022. Through this union a blended family was formed, son Zavion, daughter Jayla; bonus children, Princess, Noble and Deangelo Gordon. Their blended family was full of LOVE.
Kristy confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was affiliated with several churches, in the areas in which she lived. Kristy loved to sing in the Choir. She sang at various occasions and ministered through singing and motivational speaking. She was full of life through song and music. Kristy was an inspiration in helping with weight management with her Bye Bye Belly products. Friendship, Honesty, and Trust were very important to Kristy. She served as a liaison with love and tender care to all of her family.
Kristy made a positive impact on everyone with her loving spirit and her beautiful smile; she was loved by many. Kristy will always remain in our hearts.
Kristy was an amazing woman, one of a kind. Her first love was God and her earthly first love was her dad. She never had closure on how and why her dad was taken so soon; so, now he’s sitting down with her telling her the story. Her mothering skills were awesome and what she instilled in her children will last forever: Zavion will finish college and Jayla will attend photography school and run the runway as the world’s Next Top Model. Kristy loved her job as a Claims Director for National General Insurance Company. She influenced lots of people while employed there. She worked at NATG until her health began to fail. She brought laughter, fun, grace, and independence while doing an excellent job. The President of NATG once told her she was the smartest, brightest person he knew and he wished she could be cloned. Her last family gathering was at the home of her aunt and uncle, Sam & Bernice Bennett, she wanted to take a picture with all her uncles, aunts, and cousins. She was the light of the gathering. Each picture was taken with a delicate touch and you could see the love she had for her family. What a wonderful gathering it was.
Kristy Lashay McIver Gordon was preceded in death by her father, William Thomas McIver Sr., maternal grandparents, Luther and Leola McLendon, paternal grandparents, L.J. and Louester McIver, uncle, Jay McIver Jr., aunt, Bertha Wilson, first cousins, David Lee McLendon Jr., Lennox McLendon and Marcus Tyrone McIver.
Kristy leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Harrison Gordon Jr., son, Zavion, daughter, Jayla, bonus children, Princess, Noble and Deangelo Gordon; her mom, Joyce Mainor; bonus dad, Frankie Darnell Mainor Sr.; brother, SFC William Thomas McIver Jr.; bonus brothers, Frankie Darnell Mainor Jr., Nicholas Mainor (Estella); nephews, Cayden, Kamryen McIver; niece, Amiyah Renae McIver. Aunts, Etta Joe Lockhart, Juanita Barnes (Willie), Rev. Dr. Bernice Bennett (Samuel), Evangelist Maxine McLendon, Sharon Roberts (Tony), Evangelist Carolyn Spencer (Derrick), Beverly McIver, Dr. Debbie Taylor. Uncles, Johnny McIver, Rev. Dr. Luther McLendon Jr. (Shirley), Rev. Dr. David Lee McLendon Sr. (Tojuna), Rev. Dr. Johnnie McLendon (Barbara), Michael O’Neal McLendon (Marion), Deacon Daniel Taylor; bonus aunt, Ruth Mainor; father & mother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Harrison Gordon Sr.; brothers-in-law, Courtney Gordon (Angela), David Gordon (Bridgett); sisters-in-law, Inez Jago (Robin) and Carlotta Odundi (Benjamin).
Kristy has so many mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers from different sets of parents. It’s so many, I’m not naming them, I don’t want to leave any names out. You know who you are, a special thanks to you all. Love You, the Family of Kristy Lashay McIver Gordon.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Remember that Kristy is with the Lord now, and she is no longer in pain. If it's any consolation, one of my favorite Bible verses to turn to over these past months when I need comfort is Ps.18:2 "The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliver; My God is my rock in Whom I take refuge". Please let me know if I can be of help in any way. Love, Gladys Broome-Smith
